After all the support and joy everyone gave me with regards to my health and my book, I thought it would be appropriate to give you a sneak preview of a poem being published in the book. I wrote this piece shortly after I was diagnosed with Cancer for the fourth time.

The chair<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

You silently sit there waiting in the moment you’ve been given
You don’t think to move and are unable to talk
Wondering if god will ever be forgiven
Realizing that your steps could be a widow’s walk

Two days later the tears begin to show
And you try to trust that your efforts will work
Painfully crying, you search for hope
In the end knowing that god took a second look

The second time you sit in the chair
You don’t ask for the time to yourself
You’re taken aback by the fact you are there
Feeling unable to help ones self

Once more you try for the chance of time
Your mind seeing the decline and feeling the pain
Once again you face the impossible climb
But as before allowed to remain

The third time the chair is gone
Just a lonely bed with doctors and equipment
Once they tell you, you become withdrawn
They are asking you to make arrangements

You are alone and afraid but the tears don’t come
Explaining to all that it’s your final attempt
Some will cry, but you stay numb
Then once again, your life is exempt

These fighting victories make you strong
The fight is over and you have won
Believing with this that you can conquer anything
That now your life had finally begun

The sadness and suffering were never more
So I continued to walk from here to there
Until I walked down the hall
To once again find my chair

that was simply gorgeous! very simple and stark but very meaningful. i felt it right in my chest.
i didn't know you were writing a book. if this is an example of the kind of poetry/prose/whatever you write in it, then i can't wait to get my hands on it. best of luck!

Very well written as only someone going through the situation could write.
I hope others are encouraged by your words.
