Read the Dark Tower series, that'll keep you occupied for a few days, except book 4 may make you cry.
Do you knit or sew? Go to a thrift store, pick up supplies, and create things? Make Christmas presents?

That can be tough! Are you looking for alone activities or something to do with your little one? There are usually free things you can do with children like story time at the library and play groups held at churches, schools and communmity centers.

Baking. May you can try baking some cakes for family and friends. If you get really good at it. Maybe you could start a side business.
Also reading. Mall walks. Museums some of them have free admission after a certain time. Write letters to your daughter to give to her at a later time. Maybe when she hits such ages as 10, 14, 16, 20, 25

Perhaps join a single parents group, or do some volunteer work. I dunno, that's all my brain could come up with.

Hi There, Sorry, I wasn't following your story, who's DH?? I'M a mom of two, 8 & 11 and I am home all by myself as my husband has moved to Florida for his work and the kids and I will join him in a few monthes. I try to volunteer work once a week, clean the house once or twice, I go to the public library, grocery shop almost everyday. I try to treat myself to facials and massages once in a while (hey! he's in the sun and i'm freezing up here!!) I have friends all over so I spend an hour a day on MSN with them and I cook a lot of very nice food for the kids and I. I also have yoga classes, the kids keep me busy with hockey and tae kwon do... When I run out of things to do, I get dressed and go for huge walks or rent a movie if the weather is not to good. Hope I helped!
Nanoush

Maybe join a book club, where you can chat with others who have read the same story, or hey start your own coupon group, advertise in your local grocery store. Maybe go to the park with the little one while the weather is still nice, or join a mommy and me group at a local community center. Volunteering somewhere is a great place to get out and talk to others, plus be able to help a charity. Hope some of the ideas posted in your thread will help out. You will find the right one, it might just take a little time, Moe.

crafting? This year I have decided to make my own Christmas cards. I went to various dollar stores and got a lot of stuff for cheap. Your daughter can help you as well with this. You can start scrap booking as well, maybe do an album of your daughter from birth untill now? Thats if you like scrap booking and crafts

You could start a journal - writing things down on good days as well as bad - people say it helps to get through hard times.
Thrift stores usually have LOTS of jigsaw puzzles - that can keep you busy and you can leave it anytime and come back to it later.
Is there a school nearby that has a breakfast or lunch program? They usually need help.
Perhaps you could volunteer to go to the library to exchange books for people in retirement/nursing homes.
Organize your photographs - there may be some you'd like to "file" - perhaps not permanently - but to get them out of the mainstream for now.
Reorganize your coupons
Start a coupon train
Become an Avon Rep! - Sorry that just slipped out!
plant some bulbs in inside containers to have some pretty flowers when the snow starts to fly
write poetry
Go through your closet and pick out something that looks REALLY GOOD on you and WEAR it to the grocery store.
Smile at 15 different people in the next 3 days
Send a note of congratulations to someone who has accomplished something and it has been noted in the local newspaper.
Paint your nails a WILD colour
Start saving bacon drippings to make a seed ball for local birds. You can make a bird feeder out of an old milk carton
stare at the clouds
go to bed early
go to bed late
make yourself breakfast in bed
look up a celebraty's (that doesn't look like it's spelled right) birthday and send them a birthday card
It's your birthday soon - find out who has the same birthday and send them a card.

My suggestion is to go out and do something wonderful for yourself. A manicure/pedicure, and maybe even a facial. How about a massage. I don't know what your finances are like. A day at the spa can be expensive but if you can do it, it can really make you feel great.
If you can't work a spa day into your budget right you could invite a girlfriend or two over and have an old fashioned sleepover. I did this not too long ago when I needed a lift. Spent an evening with friends, pjs, lots of wine, crazy colours of nail polish and weird facial mud mask concoctions. Sounds like laughter might be just what you need.
Whatever you do hide your swifter and start doing stuff for yourself!
