crazy weather! We had lots of snow and blowing snow yesterday and the cleanup has begun. But you know, it is warm today +1c so snow is melting.

We had some snow again last night but no real accumulation. And it is quite mild here today. But (GASP) the dreaded POLAR VORTEX is scheduled to hit Quebec soon! So all those cold temps that the west is experiencing will soon be here also.

-1 feels like -4 , rain/freezing rain yesterday...hardly any snow on the ground, the ground is not frozen and not sure about the ponds (maybe 4-5 inches of ice) haven't been able to use the snowmobile yet this year. Next week is supposed to be colder so hoping for some Winter

Significant snow and wind expected Monday.

Locations: southern, central, western, and eastern Newfoundland.

Time span: Monday morning through Monday night.

Remarks: A low pressure system tracking southeast of Newfoundland is forecast to bring significant amounts of snow to parts of the province. Snow is expected to begin Monday morning for southern portions of the island, and will spread elsewhere in the following hours. There is potential for the snow to mix with or change over to rain over southern portions of the Avalon Monday afternoon.

Current indications are that snowfall totals will range between 15 to 30 cm. However, the location remains uncertain due to lingering variations in the track and depth of the storm.

Strong northeasterly winds followed by strong northwesterlies are also expected Monday and Monday night. Maximum gusts are most likely going to range between 60 and 80 km/h for most areas. Along the south and east coasts, there is a possibility gusts could reach 100 km/h . These strong winds will combine with snow to reduce visibility in blowing snow.

Conditions will improve for most areas on Tuesday morning, with the exception of the west coast. In the west, snow will change to flurries and potentially snow squalls, which could lead to further snowfall accumulations throughout the day on Tuesday.
