I switched over from my regular Colgate Max Strips to Crest Pro Health Toothpaste a few days ago. At first I was excited about using a toothpaste that's supposedly so good for your dental health and hygiene. However after using it for 2-3 days I'm very disappointed with the product.
First of all, like other whitening toothpastes it doesn't taste great at all. It has a granular texture, it's a little gritty at first until the foam develops. It leaves my mouth with a very unpleasant taste after brushing. Which makes me want to use a mouthwash or a tic-tac right after I brush.
Additionally, on a more serious note, within an hour of brushing a thin layer of skin appears on my inner lips - bottom and top. This layer of thin skin starts to peel away and it seems that an entire layer of the skin on my lower lip peels away with each use. I woke up in the morning with a clump of skin peeled away between my lower lip and gums. It's not painful at all, but very unpleasant and leaves me questioning the ingredients of the product.
I google'd this and found LOTS of people who have the same complaint.
I am planning to email/call Crest to find out why this happens and what I should to prevent it.
Personally I would rate this product a 1/5.
I gave it a 1 because it does clean my teeth well, but all the side-effects negate any positives the product might have.

I get peeling skin on the inside of my mouth when I use a pre-brush teeth whitening rinse like Life Brand or Listerine. I thought I would get more whitening (and more value) if I held the rinse in my mouth for extra time. As it turns out I was just giving myself a chemical burn, perhaps because of the peroxide. I tried cutting back on the amount of time I keep the rinse in my mouth and still get the whitening but much less peeling.
I can't find peroxide in the ingredients of Crest Pro-Health but perhaps there is something very similar to it as it does claim to whiten your teeth. Try using less and/or having it in your mouth for less time.

hmm DH and I love this toothpaste, never had a problem with peeling skin and always thought it left a nice clean feeling afterwards.

I tried this toothpaste too, but I never noticed any peeling skin. I do agree about the granular texture and the bad taste / aftertaste. I also did not like the cap, which got very messy very quickly. Thanks for the review. I too would not buy this toothpaste again.

This pro-health line has had really bad reviews.
I actually threw out my half used bottle of mouthwash. The active ingredients in it interacts with food particles and is causing brown stains BETWEEN the teeth.
I thought I was the only freak with this problem, but a google search shows a number of people complaining about it. I switched back to Listerine.

I use it. I never noticed the peeling of skin but I use a lot of lipbalm and lip gloss. It was free so what can you do.

I posted earlier this year about how people were having problems with the mouthwash in this same brand, crest pro-health, it was staining their teeth! I had used it in the past, but don't anymore and prefer not to buy this toothpaste either. Sorry to hear about your bad results.

I agree with most of the comments here, the BF and I really don't like this toothpaste.
It feels really gritty, and no matter how long I brush for I don't get that smooth, slick feeling on my teeth like I am used to when they are clean.
When I wake up in the morning my mouth feels really icky if I used this toothpaste the night before.
The cap definitely does get dirty easily!Join Swagbucks for free GCs & prizes, just by searching: http://www.swagbucks.com/refer/Chicka

This is all funny to me (sorry, I'm not laughing at anyone- just to clarify)....My husband and I are OBSESSED with this toothpaste! We LOVE IT!! We can't use anything else but this brand....and the effects on our teeth have been fantastic! Whiter teeth and apparently in very good shape, according to our dentist he sees a nice improvement so we are sticking with it. Too bad about all the others who have had bad side effects. If this line goes out of production my DH and I will probably buy out all the stores of remaining stock
