I ordered my three months gift for gifts to grow from shutterfly.the postman told me that I need to pay $42.16 for customs. Anyone else experience that? I don't think I want to pick up the package from the post office if I need to pay this huge amount.

You shouldn't be paying anything- mine came in the regular post. I would contact Shutterfly and see what the deal is.

Did you do 3 orders at one time? Canada Customs usually ignores items less than $20 when shipped to USA to Canada. Maybe if your orders totaled more even though "free" with coupon, that's why the duty was charged. It also could be that the "fee" includes the customs brokerage cost too - likely as much as the duty.

It was only one order of 24 labels.

Yup, there were two codes. The total had come to $0.00. I contacted Shutterfly and they said its the customs.

Now it might sound stupid but can someone tell me if I am obliged to pick it up from the post offic? What happens if I don't? Meaning in any other instance it gets send back to the shipper but now that I have to pay customs, would they still send it back?

For what it's worth I ordered mine and everything went smoothly- they showed up in the mail with no further charges.

THANK YOU!! I was just coming on here to rant and rave about how dumb this promo was that after I entered the code I still had to pay $7.99 for 24 little labels! But I checked, and sure enough there is 2! Now the total is $0!

I've ordered from shutterfly at least half a dozen times and never had to pay customs. Are you sure it's not something else?

Honestly, it has to be something else. Customs is calculated on the value of the item. I'd check with them to see who it's from.
