    How awful.

Did you (under your husband's Email) confront her at all? Though she probably wouldn't reply if you did... if I were in your position I think I'd at least ask about it though.

She obviously is in a really tough position and although I am sure she is absolutely grateful for the crib, there are probably other things that she needs much more (ie. diapers, food, etc.) I wouldn't think of it as taking advantage of you at all, you did an amazing thing by not only giving her $75 and a crib, you gave her the ability to gain $200 for items far more important for a baby than a crib. The first time I read your story I was touched, the second time I read the story with the update, I felt even more for the girl as she must be in a dire position to do something like that. If more people had a heart like yours and that gentleman's, the world would be a much better place.

WOW. how sad! I'm sorry that's happened to you. I've had something similar happen giving things away on freecycle and then have the person turn around and sell it on kijiji or etsy. (yes confirmed it was the same person!). and it stings.

What you (and the gentleman) did was a wonderful act of kindness, please don't regret it.

I was kinda thinking the same thing....it's so hard to really know! She should at least message you back (if she is in a tight spot) to let you know she meant no harm and really could use the money....if that's not the case...I really feel terrible, sick to my stomach!

    Yep, that's pretty awful.

But try not to let it get you down. YOU were not the one who did the bad thing.

While it didn't work out the way you hoped and someone took advantage of your kindness, don't let it take away from the fact that you did a wonderful thing to help someone.

I loved the first part of your story... and then I kept reading. What a terrible thing for her to do, although I would like to agree with ymac 4u, maybe she did need money for diapers, etc. Maybe it's just me trying to not be cynical. Bravo to you and your neighbor for being so generous, we need many more people like you around. And don't forget, karma *is* a great thing, I know firsthand. Thank you for sharing.

That sucks in a huge & horrible way.
I sincerely hope she really DID need the money from the sale of that crib ... otherwise, I wouldn't want to be anywhere near her when her Karma-Bomb goes off.
If she played you, that bomb will take out her entire neighbourhood!

You & your neighbour are STILL wonderful people for doing such a kind thing, and, despite your disappointment in the girl's actions, please don't let it stop you from extending your helping hand to others.

First, I want to say that you had no way of knowing what the outcome would be; you did what felt right in your heart at the moment and that was a very thoughtful and selfishless (??not a work I know but the proper word excapes me) thing that you did. Remember the good deed you did!!!

Unfortunately there is really nothing that you can do. Hard as it may be, you'll have to try to put it out of your mind. There is no way you can make sense of what that girl was thinking and why she may have done what appears she's done (resell for cash).
Others posted maybe she got a cheaper crib and therefore sold the one she got from you. Although it doesn't change anything, I believe that young woman got the crib for nothing (as the gentleman in the lobby paid OP for it on her behalf and OP even gave her the money) - the young woman in fact actually made $75 if I understood correctly - somehow I doubt she had another crib at home or that she, after the fact found one cheaper.....she made $75; why would she go out and buy a crib when she got one at no cost out of pocket to her and actually made $75 'buying' it.
Sorry, I'm just kind of on a bit of a rant...I can't believe someone would take advantage of someone like that especially if in fact she is just about due to give birth and in supposed need of baby-stuff.
I truly believe in "what goes around comes around"....so she's got it coming to her eventually

You did a great thing and I hope that it is just that she was in more need of the money than the crib for the baby and not just scamming you. Either way you did a wonderful thing for someone so try to let it not get you down.

Oh man, after you and the kind person who purchased the crib from you in the first place did all that for the girl, she could turn around and do something like that. Wow, I'm just so surprised by her actions. But what a thoughtful thing for you and the other person to do for her in the first place.
