Well...I have encountered this problem all too many times. Go to store with my internet-printed coupons, and the cashier and then cashier supervisor says it's not valid. Well...I emailed Zellers head office customer service off their website, and also called my local Walmart in North Brampton. I got the following email from Zellers, and the manager of the Walmart left me a voicemail personally, on my cell advising that they will take internet coupon as long as it is clear, and has an expiry date on it and that you don't use it past that date, and that there is a barcode on it. The email from Zellers was as follows:
    To: [email protected]
    Date: 06/19/2008 12:09:48 PM
    Subject: Store Inquiries

I am inquiring re: Zellers' policy on coupon acceptance in the store. I am wondering what type of coupons are accepted, if internet coupons are accepted, if there is stacking available. As well, if I could have the interpretation of "One item per purchase", and what Zellers considers "No doubling".

I am looking for clear clarification of these, as I seem to run into different interpretations at each location I have been to.

    Thank you.

Thank you for your email. We will only accept on-line coupons provided that they are fully legible and contain a barcode. As well as we will not allow a customer to use more than one coupon per item per purchase.
I hope that this helps. If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact us.

I intend to follow up further on these matters with A&P, as they are saying at the cash and manager level, that the coupons are not valid either. If I get a response, I will post.

My husband's suggestion was to print the coupons on glossy paper, like Save.ca does. Maybe it's the matte they don't like. Maybe they want something that will twinkle in their eyes....buggers. I've had the same problems too...you're not alone.

I know that the Dominion store only takes their website printable coupons now. Too many fraudulent free product coupons are being made on computers and printed up. The cashier told me they lost thousands of dollars several months ago, these crooks go from store to store and at different times of the day. Someone always has to spoil a good thing!

I haven't had problems here, I also find that some of the gals at the self checkout at walmart don't even check the coupons and what they're for - they just enter them!

Since I only started using coupons regularly in June I still feel a bit uncomfortable using them. So the printable coupons are really not something I will try right now. I did use today, the 2,500 bonus points coupon for 2 Dove products at Shoppers and they did not have any problem taking it - but it was a Shoppers coupon.

I am also not keen on using printed coupons, especially after reading about other people's hassles in using them. I've never been denied in the few times I've used them though. But still, even when I know the coupon's legit, there's no telling if I will get out the store with a smile or a scowl. Unlike when I use mailed out manufacturer's coupons.

Most stores here will not accept them either. I have not been able to use any of mine.

I have been looking for glossy paper and can't find any. I don't use printed one often because i have enough problems with normal ones. I get tired of fighting every time i go in a store even though i will.

Michael's printable coupons are never an issue. They are so good about it. (in fact before they had printable coupons, you just had to tell them you were from out of town (which i am) and don't get their flyer (which was 100% true) and they would take your postal code in exchange for honouring the coupon discount) Now that I get their email with the coupon, it never happens.

and I rarely print em out the same. (sometimes colour, sometimes B&W, some times the size is off because software stretched the image etc. it's never an issue.)
