We like the insects, get along with them for the most part. The hapless insects who get caught in our house we catch and release outside usually, mosquitos not included.

Bees, wasps, hornets are all capture and release. Not tonight though.

Paddy, my 7 year old boy was stung by a wasp about an hour ago. Good boy, didn't even cry. Tough little bugger. But the wasp had to go. It had an attitude.

Dark outside though, so he wouldn't be bouncing against the windows which makes a capture and release easy, so it was the flyswatter and a death sentence. I turned off all the lights except for the dining room light and the wasp started buzzing the chandelier. I held up the flyswatter and waited for a clear shot. Didn't think I was going to get one.

Then the wasp landed on the flyswatter. On the flyswatty part! I was just stunned for a few seconds, then slowly turned around, while waspy hung on, and dispatched the dumbest insect who ever lived against the wall.

Oh well, every species have their idiots. Natural selection took care of that one.

    You're forgiven.
Being an animal-lover who won't even step on an ant, I can sympathize with your plight....to kill an innocent insect is one thing....to kill one who has attacked a member of one's family.....that's just asking for trouble!

Here's one for you...the other day our DD was outside with our 2-year old grandson, and said..."Oh, look a butterfly (which was perched nearby)...awww..it's gone..."...to which said grandson responded..."No, mommy...it's still here..."...as he was stroking a bumble-bee with one finger!! I would have PAID to see the look on her face! LOL!!!

I love our electrocution device! ZAP! WELL DONE on both sides! HAH!!
It's particularly entertaining when the offending critter flies into it!

I killed a wasp the other day but only because it was suffering on the floor. It was acting really weird and I could tell something was very wrong with it. After it was dead I felt really bad that a life was taken. Personally I think every living thing desirves life, but hey thats just me.

    Absolutely right!
    Except for mosquitos.
I see no reason to befriend a mosquito.
    One that's actually on me.
I certainly wouldn't go and hunt one down.....though.....

I still carry ladybugs outside when it's spring, summer or fall. If it's winter I just let it live with us....moths, too..outside. Of course I only see them in the summers here....

Dave, you are my hero! I hate the nasty buggers, and they love my house for some reason.
