i woulda tossed it, and then bought you some half decent freezer bags. don't use breadbags, those are really bad for freezer burn, and those dollar store ones. use the good quality ziplock or glad. and if your going to be storing for more than a month, but the double thickness ones. you don't need to be throwing away good money.

anyway, mil's are nuts. don't eat freezer burnt food, or any food that any part of it has gone bad. that's sssssick. well, gross..you know what i mean. freezer burnt food tastes terrible.

Ok I agree with NS here, invest in some good freezer bags and I even label the bags so I know how long they have been there. Veggies I don't care how long they have been in the freezer but meat and poultry I try to finish it within 4-6 months. Our butcher is about 30 mins from my house so I stock up but also have a house full of boys who would eat me most nights if they could They love chicken but I cannot eat it. Ever since I got pregnant with my last one I can no longer eat it. Its really odd and I do miss it and Popeye's spicy chicken but just can't do it anymore

I double bag everything I freeze along with dating it! Never had freezer burn.

ok so off topic here..question- I went to cook a chicken this weekend, but when I took it out of the freezer was severely freezer burnt..so I tossed it..was telling my mil and she freaked saying she couldnt beleive I had thrown away a completely fine chicken, that nothing was wrong with it and she cooks foods like that all the time. I know she has taken a rancid steak in her words and cut off the bad part and cooked the rest.
I was wondering waht everyone else would have done with the chicken?

I fired off an email to canada post, complaining that the mailman is leaving parcels on the doorstep in plain view and not checking to see if anyone is home. I thought they're supposed to leave a card with instructions where to pick up, which is what i gathered from their website too.

anyway, i get a reply. "can u provide us with your full mailing adress and tracking number"

ARGGGGHHH..okay, here's my mailing adress. why do you need the tracking number.?? the parcel isn't lost. you idiots. your leaving packages on the doorstep to be stolen...ARRRRRRGHHHHHHHHHHH

NS, as someone who used to work for the US post office (and I suspect Canada Post is about the same) you'll have to go to the post office where you typically have to go to pick up your parcels and tell them. The main website will never have anyone who can help you. The small post offices are given the job of handling everything themselves, the higher up offices don't care at all. If you go to your local office, be nice, tell them you get a lot of parcels in the mail and that you'd 100% rather have to come pick them up than have them left on your porch, they will probably be quite nice and let your post person know.
