No matter what there will always be conflict on forums. It's so hard to understand how to take something when it is typed out. You can't hear the expressions delivered as you do with spoken voice, and you can easily twist the smallest thing and take it personally. I am not speaking of everything that has been posted before this, just in general.
It's so easy to take something the wrong way in forums/blogs/chat rooms/etc.
I forget who, but someone also mentioned about the thumbs up and how its always certain people who seem to get more attention. I find some members who are newer will post a good deal or something and it just gets shuffled away, but if something is posted by a more seasoned member there is always more thumbs up and praise. I think that this can cause newer members to feel a bit let down. If you take the time to post a deal/idea/etc. and upload photos and everything, it makes you feel good to get thumbs up or thanks no matter what.
I am just saying in general- not from personal experience, but I know this does happen.
If there is some sort of praise for posts that contribute to the effectiveness of this site (mainly for new members) it should have a positive correlation with the likeliness of them contributing again and staying around to become a long term member

I also took my photo out of my signature as many members were saying how it is annoying to have them load/take up space on cell phone screens, etc. +1 for me! LOL

Thanks Meguwo for reconizing the thumbs up/down.. As a new member it was very exciting to join and start to learn and share what I thought was good or how good i did on saving. For the most part it has been very postive. But I also have a post where 137 people viewed and no one left a message or gave a thumbs up so that was a dark day..
So as a newbie to this group it is hard to break into this forum.. I still love it and will keep trying.. One day I will make you all like me..LOL..Ok i tired..
Happy clipping all.

i love this site, but agree that newbies are kind of lost (me personally!!LOL i have no idea what candyland is and would love to know) also i feel like the senior members should give way to the newbies also because they have more rep and as someone had mentioned. people disregard posts by newer members

Still have two pages to go but am through reading its obvious this thread is only for happy good touchy feely things and not any real issues...fine guess I was mistaken of why it actually started in the first place over people being banned unfairly my bad my mistake. No one wants to hear the stuff that is upsetting only the good stuff thats cool I like only hearing the good stuff but understand sometimes the bad needs addressed so if it doesn't pertain to me I don't read the bad stuff but allow others the right to get it off their chest without attack or complaint. It appears a mod can say anything on here but no one can say anything to them. The maturity level is absolutely appalling. Yes some of this should of been taken to pm but since the mod kept it going it wasn't. I have no previous issues with any mod on here until the whole ban thing came up & since it was not me that was banned, well at least not yet, I had no dealings with any of the mods on SC to have formed previous opinions of them other then gratitude for the wonderful job they are doing. All my opinions have been formed from what I've read on here tonight & I'm saddened by it.
I originally had said I would be quitting the site over a friend being unfairly banned she's since been reinstated & received an apology which she is happy with it and I'm extremely glad she's back where she belongs she gives much to this site as well as artistically with her very cool siggys. I've met some wonderful people on here who I would miss dearly if I left so as long as she's happy I'm happy. Since I'm not from Canada a lot of the deals don't pertain to me so I'm not the most active member except on the Points & prizes thread. I used to come for the words but fell in love with the people on the thread & once I saw other nonCanadian's joined & were welcomed with open arms I joined have never once regretted it & still don't. I'm here for the people mainly can get the words other places. So I'm staying for my friends who mean the world to me. This other nonsense I can do without anyway. I do apologize I haven't been on much lately am going to fix that afraid I've gotten too caught up in the facebook games & my health has been rather lousy so if I'm not playing a game I'm resting but there are too many that don't play on facebook & I have missed you all so will make it my morning ritual to stop by say hi & keep caught up with you all as well as get to know all the new members.
Boo I do thank you for this site & realize you have much on your plate so doubly appreciate all you have given us.

It is too easy on an internet forum to miscommunicate & end up with hurt feelings. Some people have a slightly twisted sense of humour (guilty as charged), which can land them into trouble if their words are taken the wrong way or out of context.
As an example, my best friend & I tease each other mercilessly. At one point, we were having dinner with some other friends, who were convinced we were having a terrible fight & were trying to play peacemaker. I felt so bad that someone who had known me for years, who was there to witness the banter, would take our silly quips the wrong way. If these things can happen even in real life, how easy can it be to misunderstand on this sort of forum.
In terms of the thumbs up/down feature, it took me ages to even realize it was there & its purpose. So, now I take 15 minutes each day & go through posts, giving each a thumbs up. Unless it is something very very offensive (& let`s face it, it wouldn`t be on here if it was), I like to acknowledge the work the OP put into posting the info.
I also like to give out reps, but now that I bounce around so many different parts of SC, I find I`m constantly running low on them & can`t give reps to every post I`d like. & yes, I do spread it around (boy, that sounds so naughty).
As for the issue of banning members, in the past I`ve acted as a moderator on other sites, & even temp bans were never issued unless all the moderators had had a chance to review the issues & form a concensus. We always gave the individuals the benefit of the doubt & would allow the poster to continue until all the mods had had a chance to meet & discuss. Granted there were a few blanket rules which resulted in very stern warnings, but it rarely got to the point that an individual needed to be banned. What one person may find offensive, another may realize is simply someone`s way of speaking. & if individuals are frustrated, well, things get ramped up very easily. I found the best way to deal with problems was to simply quietly point out the issue that may be offensive to the poster, otherwise it would appear I was on some sort of idiotic power trip. The hardest part of being a moderator is remaining impartial.
I am very grateful for this torum, I have met some wonderful people thanks to this site. If there is any way I can help, please do contact me. It`s the least I could do.

I like the opportunity to thank people for taking the time to post things also
When I have a longer post to type now, I type it in NotePad first and then copy and paste, just in case there is a time lag and the post doesn't go through. It is frustrating to spend 15 minutes composing a post, measuring my words carefully so as to not provoke offense, only to have it go off to the moon after I hit submit.

I am the same, I have a dry sense of humour and I like to tease in a playful way (I only tease people I like). Sometimes I have gone back and edited a post to make sure general members know I am joking, if I don't see a reply with a bunch of these right away
and
I do think part of the crux of the problem with why there is drama in the forum is some being quick to jump to conclusions, we have all done this (myself included) so I am not pointing fingers!!!But I do try to give benefit of the doubt, and look at who the poster is, and think Oh, this is an ongoing joke between these two people and means nothing.
I also like to thumb up posts as much as possible, it is the little things like this that build morale and encourage people to keep posting.
