i haven't myself.. but i've heard many woman rave about them.. while others hate them (the mess, unable to place it right, leakage)

I've never tried it but I have heard about it. Here's a video review of a similar product- the mooncup. It's honest and really helpful if you're considering trying it:

In short she says:
Pros = you can leave it in all day or most of the day without emptying it (there is no risk of TSS as with tampons), you can reuse for up 5 years with the one time price of $25
Cons= it is slightly messy to use, slight pain (for this reviewer), takes a while to get the hang of it

my gf swears by this, but she is very environmentally aware...I myself couldn't deal with the "mess", they kind of creep me out.
But they save a ton in feminine protection costs, as well as a great way to not put chemicals in your body or contribute to the landfill.

I'm considering this method too. Two women I work with use them (they're sisters, one talked the other into it), and both are happy with them. The second one to try wasn't fond of it at all at first, but I do like the idea of not buying/not disposing of feminine products.
From what I understand it's not horribly messy. Apparently there's isn't as much fluid involved as you'd think.
I don't even know where you'd buy one locally.
Editing to say, I found a place that sells these locally. I think I'm gonna buy one!Last edited by Zonny; Fri, Nov 12th, 2010 at 07:07 PM.

I have not tried them but I have seen them at SDM near the pads/tampons.

SDM, really! I'm going to have to check that out. The place I saw them advertised locally was a specialty baby store (where they sell cloth diapers and such).

I have had one for a couple of years now and I really like it. There is a learning curve to using it but once you get the hang of it, I find it to be very convenient.

My best friend uses it and likes it, but she says she'd only wear it if she's staying home in case it spills.
I don't even want to try it as the idea just completely grosses me out! I'd rather use coupons to buy pads/tampons and save money that way then to have to worry about the divacup spilling and having to dump it out and rinse it. Yuck!

I've used menstrual cups for over 15 years now (started with the natural rubber Keeper, now using the Finnish made silicone Lunette). These are the best things ever, and I wished I started even sooner. I find them way more hygienic than the disposable products (the smell of pads isn't too pleasant, and replacing your tampon every time you do number 1 seems like such a waste...). There really isn't that much fluid and I've gotten worse leaks with tampons/pads. Of course the best thing of all is not to menstruate, but I find using the cup makes things way more bearable.
