cbc has this doc on tonight.
',,,One thing is certain about human nature...we’re born talkers. Our urge to communicate is universal. And now with modern technology we can meet anybody… anywhere… at anytime. ,,,
But some people can’t turn off their technology. They need to immediately read that next text, take that call or check their Facebook. Experts interviewed at an internet addiction centre in Washington State say that between six to ten per cent of the population that’s online meets criteria for internet addiction. ,,,,' from the cbc.

Thanks I'll have to watch. I had to laugh at the new Shaw commericals on t.v. that says "what your family and friends really miss about you is your voice." and goes on to tell you about their new phone hook-ups.

Judstir, I agree with that - sometimes I remind my 19 year old son to TALK on the phone to his friends instead of texting and using IM all the time.
In general, sure it's become a total obsession with lots of people - this "need" to be so digitally connected all the time. The world won't stop if you don't update your facebook status, or return that email right away...

i haven't watched it yet. i do remember being banned, (a few times),
from another sites chat - my response was 'there is a new invention,
the telephone - thinking my friend and i will use that, then'
is too amusing and crazy to see how 'digital' people are now.
my grandmother was around for the invention of the radio,
and now my nephews are texting maniacs, wondering what
sort of invention the nieces will enjoy in a few years

yes I am addicted to the worldwide web...and the point be?
But I don't have that many friends who talk to me on the phone when I call them but they answer the text messages I send them...I find it troublesome because my phone isn't straight forward...Last edited by greentires4me; Sat, Nov 20th, 2010 at 07:55 PM.

I'm not crazy about being over connected. I briefly dated someone who would flip if I didn't respond to a text within minutes, even if I was actually working and not able too. I literally wanted to take a sledge hammer to my phone. But then I dumped him and the constant texts stopped.
I don't really use fb much, just to share links and comment on things. Things I wouldn't think of when I'm with the person (for the most part anyways).
Reminds me of this thread on another message board I was on, I can't remember the exact title, but it was making fun of girls who post constantly when they're about to shower/go to the gym/go to class, etc. I remember those. Ohhh I deleted so many people off my fb.
