It's pretty hard to choose just one. Some that I like include:
- Mississippi Queen by Mountain
- Hold Your Head Up by Argent (I met Rod Argent when I was in high school)
- How Long by Ace
- House of the Rising Sun by Frijid Pink

Hmmm, seeing as Green Eyed Lady (I have the 45 down in the basement) and Bang a Gong (Get it On) are already claimed, I'll put "Kiss Him Goodbye" by Steam forward as my one-hit wonder choice. It's one of those songs that everybody knows, but not by the original title.
Close second; Norman Greenbaum's "Spirit in the Sky".

Yup! I remember Woolworth's! But, it was the one at Brimley and Eglinton.
If the photographer of SillyLoocie's picture turned left about 90 degrees that's where Woolworth's was.
And the Chinese food restaurant in the Golden Mile picture is where we frequently used to go for lunch when I was working at General Motors on Eglinton. Now the G.M. plant is torn down too, and there is another shopping centre on that site.

One of the worst songs that comes to mind was by David Soul of Here Come the Brides & Starsky & Hutch fame.
Don't Give Up on Us (beyond ghastly!)

Well the Leafs just made a big trade, giving up Stajan, Ian White, Mayers and Hagman for Dion Phaneuf and 2 unheard-ofs.

Afternoon. I'm all caught up with the words and want to say thanks to all.
But more than words (wasn't going into a song title there ....) this is a very insightful thread - we get history lessons and debunking lessons, we get to walk down memory lane while being kept up to date with the latest Toronto happenings (Shooter - your post was 4 minutes BEFORE TSN's!!).
Down that memory lane thing again - does anyone remember a band in early-mid 70's called Windmill?Last edited by Argo53; Sun, Jan 31st, 2010 at 01:02 PM. Reason: I can't spell

[quote=tartanrocker;1700228] Chum Charts ... now that brings back memories. Back when we used to buy 45's. I had a stack about 6" high that we used to carry back and forth to our friends. Once they got scratched they were no used. And we always had to buy new needles for our LP players. What we went through to listen to music!
