I think it has gotten a lot of people with unreal expectation into "our world". Couponing in Canada is not half as good as depicted in the TLC show from the States. IMO SC has been over run with a lot of people expecting everything for nothing the past while

I hope this isn't going to turn into a "bash all the newbies who just happened to join after the show" thread.

I think its making people extremely paranoid for absolutely no reason and frankly its annoying speaking as a member and not a moderator.
Couponing isn't going to "stop" and the paranoia is driving me nuts.Last edited by Sally888; Thu, Feb 24th, 2011 at 03:24 PM.

I am not bashing all newbie.I have done several trades in the past few weeks with some super newbie and there have been some that have added great deal finds to the Hot Deals thread. I just think that TLC has opened some peoples eyes to couponing in a wrong way.It is just not like the states here.

I don't think any one is bashing newbies. There are bad apples regardless of when you started couponing. The show has definitely shun it's light on couponing, and it had brought a flock of people running to these deal sites. I am still getting all the same coupons I was before, my stores tear pads are not empty, the shelves are not empty, and they still accept my coupons. So, so far, it hasn't changed at all for me, besides the fact that we get to help people out on here a whole lot more now than we ever have! =) I'm glad people are finally coming to their senses and realize that paying full price for things is STUPID! lol

I'm not noticing much of a difference in coupon and product availability and don't think the onslaught of new couponers has that much impact on how things are. I'm glad more people are taking action in saving their own money and I think many of them will fizzle out when they realize that it is actually a lot of work and we don't have 5000 free boxes of cereal or whatever every week and the true couponers for life will prevail. Hopefully many of the newbies are here to stay, but we are a special sort.
