okay so in the wake of the Slave Lake fire I have decided to challenge myself, and maybe in a way, challenge others to pay it forward.

I have decided when i get payed on Friday to take my freebies,my items that i have stockpiled for next to free due to couponing and give them to the citizens of Slave Lake.I know it isn't much but I feel so bad sitting here in my home and knowing so many don't have one and it is so close to me.

If you would like to assist me,you can contact the red cross, even if you are across the country,@ Canadian Red Cross (donations): 1-800-418-1111

To me i live so close i am going to go to the store on friday with coupons in hand and stockpile enough to give to these poor people.i feel it is the least i can do.i love couponing and this is going to help so many people.anyhow, wish me luck in my challenge!

    Good for you!
On the news yesterday, they talked about a group of Moms in Edmonton who have gotten together to organize donations.
There are a few posts on SC on other sections about members wanting to do the same.

Good for you, TudorChick. They really need everything at these donation drop-offs. Food, Diapers, Toiletries, Clothes.... everything. Good luck!

I am still trying to wrap my brain around what really happened to these poor people.
No warning, just flee! My God that is a wake up call if any. Since I am not near, I do think the best way for me to pay it forward is a donation to Red Cross. Thanks Tudor for encouraging us all to re-examine how great are lives are and do what we can to help out here.

I did the same thing today on my lunch My trunk & backseat were PACKED with stuff, and the lady/business who is organizing this whole thing (down in Red Deer out of her gym!) has gotten AMAZING community response. Every little bit helps, and it's amazing how in just 2 days how much stuff she's gotten (15-20 truck loads JUST from one radio station!!!).

I don't know anyone or anywhere here where donations can be dropped off for the residents of Slave Lake....I can't begin to imagine just packing up whatever we had time to gather, and leaving our home to be either flooded or burned to the ground!
Thank goodness for people like you!
