QEW in Stoney Creek shutdown in both directions

A multi-vehicle crash has shutdown a stretch of the Q.E.W. connecting Toronto and Niagara Region in Stoney Creek. The Queen Elizabeth Way is closed in both directions between Fruitland Rd. and Centennial Pky. due to a collision involving a jackknifed tractor trailer. Drivers should take alternate route and expect delays.

Registration begins for 25-ward Toronto council

It’s registration day for councillor and school board trustee hopefuls in Toronto. The Court of Appeal for Ontario sided with the provincial government yesterday, staying a lower court ruling that found legislation cutting the number of wards from 47 was unconstitutional. As a result, voters in Toronto head to the polls with 25-wards come October 22nd. Registration will officially start at 8:30am this morning at city hall. Now that bill 5 has been given the green light, candidates have until tomorrow afternoon to throw their name into the mix.

Ennis scores twice, Maple Leafs trounce Sens

Tyler Ennis scored twice as the Toronto Maple Leafs defeated the Ottawa Senators 4-1 on Wednesday to sweep their two-game pre-season series. Auston Matthews and Jeremy Bracco also scored for the Leafs on Wednesday. Frederik Andersen played two periods, stopping all 19 shots he faced.
