Just biding my time waiting for 5:00 to roll around.

Oh, I do have something for you to look forward to... On the night of January 20/21st there will be a lunar eclipse. It should happen around 11:00 pm (12:30 in Newfoundland), and totality should last for about an hour. You will probably hear about this later on on your Facebook pages and in the news. This is the third lunar eclipse in less than a year, but the one was seen from the west coast only, and the other was on the opposite side of the world.

This will be the first one from all of North America since 2015. I remember that one, it was in September and we were coming back home from my son's hockey game in Orangeville. I was watching the full moon rising and the eclipse should have started shortly after that. Then the clouds came in and I missed the show. What a gyp that was! But I have observed at least 6 lunar eclipses in my lifetime, so it was not the end of the world.

Iridium is a chemical element with symbol Ir and atomic number 77. A very hard, brittle, silvery-white transition metal of the platinum group, iridium is the second-densest metal (after osmium) with a density of 22.56 g/cm³ as defined by experimental X-ray crystallography. However at room temperature and standard atmospheric pressure, iridium has a density of 22.65 g/cm³, 0.04 g/cm³higher than osmium measured the same way. It is the most corrosion-resistant metal, even at temperatures as high as 2000 °C.

Precious metals like platinum and iridium are harder and have higher melting temperatures than the nickel alloy electrodes found in traditional copper spark plugs. Second, the smaller the diameter of the center electrode, the lower the voltage needed to start the spark.
