Hi everyone. Just discharged from hospital. Try 2 make story short.
Admitted late Sun. afternoon; in excruciating pain & throwing up blood from internal bleeding.
Since surgery, can't lift anything heavy, so asked friend 2 help put up xmas tree; very heavy with 1200 lights.
Said he'd come Sat, so cleared my w/end (including 2 xmas parties) & rearranged furniture 2 make room. He didn't come.
By Sun afternoon, tried 2 do it myself & something inside tore. Within an hr, had 2 call 911. Dr. said it was a good thing, or I might have bled 2 death. Anyhow, home & ok, just a little sore.

Have been speaking with a few friends and it seems my
company is one of the few that does nothing for Christmas.
No dinner , no thank you, no bonus... The days we have off
between Christmas and the New Year are ones we must use
from our own holidays even though the company is closed.

In the public sector, there are no bonuses, no automatic days off, no free turkey. When we wanted a holiday lunch or dinner, we organized, paid and sometimes cooked it for ourselves. I actually liked going in at least a day or two in between Christmas and New Year because it was a great time to do some clean-up or catch-up without being interrupted by wo-(cough), w-(ahem, cough), w-w-w-w-w-werrrrr(aaaaaachooooo) ... nope, can't say it.
