good morning all This had better be the last of the cold for this spring.

suppose to turn around tomorrow, +5, +11, Sunday & +18 on Monday!

TGIF, Q sters,
well what a fun drive to work today. could here the trees clacking together outside & knew they where covered in ice. everytime the wind was blowing, bits of the tree & branches kept falling on the roof, deck & grass. went out to start the van & it & the driveway were coated in ice. didn't pull a Ryan or Derringer, was very careful to start the van to help thaw out the windows. went back inside to finish getting ready. came back out & had to scrape most of the windows still, then noticed when i put the scraper back in the garage, the light didn't come on.........................ooppps, lost power. had to release the garage door manually, then go out the front door. the sanders were out & most of the roads were sanded, but there were a maze of branches, trees & debris all over the place. it was an obstacle course till i got to Burlington. there is was just rain, nothing frozen. i noticed that power was out all the way to Derry road. we were all treating the unlighted sections as 4 way stops. apparently our Waterloo store has totally lost power. HO had to reroute that store's phones thru Cambridge & parts will be delivered thru the Kitchener store. what fun.

very windy & sometimes scary when those frozen branches hang so very low over the road way.

Oh so then it went out before you'd even left then. I'd wondered when it had since I remember the radio at 545 before I passed back out again. Nevermind hearing the trees I'm watching this skinny one across the road tipping closer and closer to the lines in front of it. Just got power back, hopefully for good this time around but it's hard to say when I think it's still freezing rain outside. And yes, I could see the car sculpture and skating rink from the window...I'm staying inside. Bloody hell stay online already power, I don't need basement flooding today. If I'm lucky, it'll stay on long enough to have some food. Although with the amount of flickering happening I'm not counting chickens.

One more thing....

Why in the world did you decide NASCAR road courses on ice would be a good idea?

THere it goes out again, sigh. I'm hungry, in need of tea and this weather is seriously aggravating me

Well, here I am. Officially retired. A very impressive send off at work with a bigger turnout than I'd expected, a tasty buffet lunch and Italian bakery cake. A presentation of a gold commemorative coin from the Deputy Chief and a model customized police car with my own licence plates on. Then off to Turtle Jacks for the after party, where to my great surprise my wife, daughters and partners and close friends were also secretly waiting to surprise me with my work colleagues. This was totally unexpected and even more impressive that with such crappy weather friends had travelled from the "far east" even from past Kingston. It was the perfect completion of my day with more gifts, cards and good wishes, not to mention quite a few gin&tonics to buzz me along. Can't remember ever having so many hugs. I am most blessed - thanks also to all of you who've posted congratz & good wishes to me as well.Hope everyone has a safe and pleasant day leading to the w/end. Cheers!
