Oooh, Luminato. I'll be hanging out at the Waves Festival. Not much info on the website yet, but here's who's hosting it (my regular hangout, literally across the street from my place):

Last yr was a lot of fun, lots of different artists showing off their talents. One of the oddest was Artist in a Closet, where 5 people would go into a dark room (literally a closet) & when the door closed, some type of artist (singer, dancer, musician) would give a *very* intimate performance. Although I'm not sure how happy Screamy would be in a closet with a tap dancer, however cute he might be.

No freebies, except for the entertainment, unless you want to perform in front of people, in which case you could get a free expresso (the Espresso Yourself Cafe - that was fun to watch last yr).

Union SDM usually honours them Friday evening (around 4pm)

I am not aware that they do that - unless it is something new. As I understand it, stores that are closed on Sat AND Sun are allowed to start their promo and flyer early. That applies to TD Centre, BCE and Bay-Adelaide. Because SDM Union opens on Sat, they are not allowed to.

I did my redemption at the SDM Union yesterday - it was fun shopping in a quiet store. Except every time I disappear from sight, my trio would start screaming "Mommy...Mommy...Mooommmmeeeee....!!!".

Thinking it would make a decent gift for my dad for father's day... wish me luck.

Did you get one? On my 2nd redemption yesterday at Yonge-King, they had 1 unit left. I was still sitting on the fence about it (looked a the box, reading all the description etc) until the manager told me to just take it. And he gave me his word that I can return it even though I am redeeming my points to get it.

A day later, I am still staring at the box on my dresser....wondering if I really need it!

Okay - so, I'm not normally a crowds-and-noise person, but I've been looking at the free events for Luminato...there's a President's Choice BBQ at Queen's Park on the 19th and 20th. I think it might be fun to go check it out and try some of their stuff (and I'm sure there will be mini-sample sizes, etc. to take home) that's new to me...I've wanted to try the Piri-Piri sauce forever, and sinice BF doesn't eat anything "exotic" (read: not pork chops, baked potatoes and corn, all plain), I've been hesitant.

I think Sunraven and Kitty have gotten to me...the constant "You paid WHAT for that??" and "I can't afford it" mantras...LOL...

Anyone else thinking about going to it, or other Luminato events? I think I can get cheaper tickets via work, if you're interested in the paid shows, just FYI. I'd gladly look into it if anyone here was interested.

Yep, I got it... it was on for half the price that Future Shop has it for, seemed like a pretty good deal to me.

There wasn't a lot of deals in the flyer this week for me and so it provided the perfect opportunity to use up most of my points too without paying crazy prices for stuff.

As K said, my parents don't NEED it, but once installed it will be nice to have. And probably add a few years to their lives too, less arguing and all.

I have popped into Union SDM after work on Fridays and they have signs up saying they are doing Saturday offers, but don't go in enough to know if its every time

It's basically a freebie day held at the square. Last year freebies included:

Lipton, Camprina products, Degree deodorants, Schick razors, a pink reuseable bag filled with goodies, samples and coupons. And lots more that I am sure I'm not remembering right now.

Not sure if it's worth a trip to Toronto for it, but it's a great day for those that work in the area and can pop by for stuff. Of course if you're going to be in Toronto then, definitely drop by.

ROFL...I wound up seeing Sunraven at the last one - Kitty had long since left by the time I wandered by...I'm not sure I would stand in line for the stuff they gave out again, but it was an interesting experience, for sure.

Probably the funniest part was seeing her in this HUGE line - the radio station giving away a ton of freebies had FUBARed their giveaway and ran out of stuff; people were NOT pleased at having to stay there for so long waiting for the replacements. I wandered over to yap away with her with absolutely no intention of trying to butt in, and got the most *horrendous* glares from people. It was quite amusing.
