I love shoes, let's get that out there right now. Love them.

But once upon a time, I fell down a flight of stairs and broke my foot. Like the bone that controls my big toe, but not in my big toe. Can't move my big toe for the life of me now. Anyways. My nice pretty little flats? Yea those, they hurt to wear, the way they "support" the foot causes me to walk the wrong way and my entire foot ends up hurting and the bone that I hurt (by being rubbed by the edge of the shoe). By the time I got home last night, it literally felt like I had broken the foot again.

Anyways, my dilemma more or less: Should I get rid of them? sell them off, or hold onto them in hopes that they I will be able to wear them again?

But it's been just over a year since I broke my foot, and honestly thought I'd be able to wear them by now.

I would give it time Something like that takes a long time to heal. I pulled all the legiments in my ankle and to this day it swells up and acts funky. If you have the space hold on to them a little bit longer : )

Yea, I was in a hottub last night and all the muscles in my ankle/foot swelled up to the point where I couldn't get my foot back into my shoe. I could put them in a box and store them at my mom's house.

You say that they're flats, so I'm assuming this isn't possible, but just thought I'd throw it out there... Can you put gel inserts inside to help? Or they won't fit?

Orthotics might help with the healing. Have you been seen by any sort of orthopedic specialist? Did you do any physio when you first broke the bone?

Give it time, things will improve.

I broke all but one metatarcel in my feet & spent a couple of yrs in casts (I have weird health issues). My toes were turned nearly 45 degrees from the way they should point. It took 2 yrs before they went back to nearly normal.

What kind of material are they made of? Would stretching the one shoe help? If you want to try that, put a ziploc bag filled with about 1/4 cup of water in the shoe and stick it in the freezer. Take them out once they've frozen and let them thaw for 20 minutes, then remove the ice.

I don't think that would work since my foot in general is still a bit more fatter than my other one. That and it would raise my foot towards the bone I broke, making it rub in more...

I went to physio, but they never said anything about footwear. And the dr. I went to was from the "plaster room" at the Civic hospital in Ottawa, I think only specialized in broken bones, but not specifically feet. I find I only have this problem in not full covered foot wear, my sneakers are fine and little ankle boots are fine...

Just synthetic material, they're from ALDO or Spring...

I would definitely try gel inserts from Dr. Scholl (or a brand name, w/e). My feet ACHE without them because there is basically no support while wearing flats.

And if that doesn't work out... what size are your feet?

I tried that, but there wasn't enough room for my foot and the insole and they're 8-9 depending on that brand

I guess you can try later on, I know I badly hurt my ankle a while ago and still have trouble with shoes.

Synthetic leather? That stretching method works best on leather and fake leather. May be worth a try? You might be able to fit an insert in afterwards as well.

Aww too bad, I'm size 6-7
Have you tried talking to a dr about it? They might have a solution for you we haven't thought of.

Is the sole that's in those shoes now, removeable? Most soles are...then you can replace them with the gel inserts.
Walking when favouring a foot can lead to all kinds of other problems...back and/or hip problems because you're not walking properly. I would suggest visiting your doctor for a referral to a specialist to relieve the problem. Good luck.....
