Recently at NoFrills I was in buying dogfood. I clip coupons that are not even for products that I buy, but I had a $6 off coupon for Vitality dogfood (not my brand), and told a young couple to wait a minute, I was sure I had a coupon for that.

They were thrilled, and I told them to watch for the Smart Saver in the local paper.

I've done this too. I'm shocked when people don't want them, who on earth doesn't want to save money. Even if you're rich, isn't that how you stay rich??? Oh, well, more coupons for us then

Someone in our town actually takes the time to tape coupons to products, I think it's so great, I've found 2 D'Italiano coupons taped to bread in Zellers. Thank you if your a fellow SCer out there, I appreciate it !!!!

That was very nice of you, I have done this in the past, and got the same reactions as others have posted.

One of my best scores was from this fellow with lots and lots of Hungryman $1 off coupons on their expiry date, when they were on sale for $1.99 at NoFrills. They had come in the brand of beer he bought, and he had already purchased all he could fit in his freezer.

One time at the pharmacy at Loblaws while I was waiting for a prescription I was putting coupons (mostly for $2 - $3 off) for various headache and cold remedies with the products, and the Pharmacist came out and told me I could not do that, that the coupons on the shelf, those manufactors had paid for the space. I did however, manage to give away one to someone who picked up the product, and she told me I couldn't give them to strangers, so I introduced myself to the woman and she introduced herself, then I gave her the coupon, lmao. The pharmacist glared at me, but since I at that time purchased several hundred dollars a month in prescriptions, she didn't make too much more of an issue over it, once I offered to transfer my prescriptions elsewhere.

    I've had both reactions mentioned...
People so excited they are practicly hugging you..
    +
People acting like you think they can't pay full price..

I remember how happy I was a few years ago when a woman handed me this coupon for the shampoo I was buying... It honestly gave me the couponers virus... But the virus didn't get serious until I joined SC in feb...
In 2010/11 I used over $7700 in coupons!
My 2012 goal is $6000 in coupons!

I carry a lot of coupons I don't need and I do tape them to products in RCSS. I've had mixed reactions to giving coupons to people. About 70% are very happy (many times I explain the coupon I'm giving them and show them the expiry date). The remaining 30% really do not want the coupons. A lot of people in the line-up for the tills have little patience when people in front of them have a lot of coupons so maybe that's why they won't use them.

My husband made me laugh last week. I was in Walmart at the cash register with close to $25 in coupons. I was handing them to the cashier one at a time when she rang up each product that I had a coupon for. About half way though my husband gives me a nudge and the woman behind me was pointing to the price screen and being quite animated she was showing her husband the savings that were showing on the screen. We had a good laugh when we walked out. My husband has never "watched pennies" as he called it until he met me

One lady I tried to give a coupon to acted as though I was doing something illegal. Once a man saw me going through my coupon album and dragged me to the other end of the store to show it to his wife! They thought it was great!

As the saying goes, "Watch your pennies and the dollars will take care of themselves." (Or did I just make that up?)

I usually shelf them, but sometimes I will pass them along personally. I prefer to "coupon fairy" though, as I call it. So I don't get as many weird looks haha.
