so its 7:39 am and i've been awake for quite a while. just cant sleep probably nerves. i need to be put to sleep with an iv to get 4 teeth removed. 3 that got rotten from my pregnancy (due to constantly being sick and severely dehydrated...btw ds is 2 now but wanted to nurse him so i just lived with the pain as long as i could) and the other is a wisdom tooth that is growing in sideways that i was told would need to have some bone come out with it. the surgery is at 2:45 and i'm a lot more stressed than i thought i would be. (first attempt by my dentist didnt go so well. freezing didnt work well enough. so got referred to a specialist to be put to sleep). my mom is going to baby sit ds while dh and i go to the dentist. he took the day off work because he needs to sign me out of the dentist office and stay with me for 24 hours. i've got some ensure and some soft foods for my recovery so i'm as prepared as i can be. i have to get something to eat very soon because i cant have any food or even water for 6 hours before my surgery.

I'll be thinking of you and sending some good thoughts your way! The only way I can have dental work done is to be put to sleep. I can't do it any other way
But you will come out of it fine and you will feel SO much better!! *HUGS*Soft kitty, warm kitty, little ball of fur... happy kitty, sleepy kitty, purr purr purr

I wish you the best! Why is going to the dentist always so scary?
I need 3 wisdom teeth removed and one rotten molar, but I'm so afraid of going to the dentist!
I'm thinking of be put to sleep too,to have it done(whenever I get up the nerve to make an appointment).
Doesn't it cost way more when they put you to sleep? We don't have any dental insurance, that's another big reason we've been putting off doing dental work.
Does anyone know of of good Sedation dentistry in the High River, Okotoks area??Accually anywhere between Calgary & Lethbridge.Artificial Colors & Flavours in almost all our food... You should be concerned.Everyone should watch this...

Good luck with it. I had to have 4 teeth pulled when I had my braces put on (small mouth). The shock of having them pulled was not fun! Still have my wisdom teeth, though... I worry for the day they decide they need to pull mine... I hate the after effects of teeth pulling!
My suggestion for after the surgery to make your mouth feel "better" is to take a ziploc bag, put some ice cubes in it, and hold it in your mouth. It'll feel a LOT better having the cold in your mouth.

***update***
i think the surgery went well. the 2 top teeth didnt hurt at all. however the 2 bottom teeth are still quite painful. i'm gonna wait a couple more days before contacting the dentist. (they had to take out a piece of bone so i dont know if thats why it hurts so much or if i have a dry socket) the swelling has started to go down though.
the worst part to be honest is i feel like i failed my son... he was making great progress with the weening but was still needing to be nursed to sleep for naps and bedtime as well as a few times during the night when he woke up. he wakes up at night screaming and he tries to get my milk and refuses his sippy cup. even during the day now its a fight. i feel like such a failure because he was supposed to be able to self ween. i would just deal with the recovery pain if the pain meds were the issue but its the antibiotics that arent safe for him to nurse and i have to take those so i dont get infected and sick.Intergalactic Proton Powered Electrical Tentacled Advertising Droids!

Glad the worst is over for you. Your son will adjust and for a few days he will be fussy but he will take the sippy cup eventually when he realizes that is all he can have. Take care of yourself and don't feel bad.
