5000 airmiles would be 157%. Or an airmiles value of about 6cents.

People are willing to buy Tassimo coffee makers and $100 Safeway cards for 7c/airmile, so you might be onto something.

Then again, the Apple brand seems to bring out the stupid in people, so I can see the ipad going for closer to 5c/airmile, or about 6400 airmiles.

    Sure burst my bubble!

Still thinking a 39" HDTV has to better than my 26" old-fashioned TV

Get 1 Lucerne Choc Milk, Saute Sensations & Haagen Dazs for $5.99 Today only!
I went and picked up this GREAT deal!

here's how they worked the discounts
    Saute Sensations $7.99 - $6.99 = $1.00
    Haagen Daz $7.29 - $3.30 = $3.99
    2L Choco Milk $4.39 - $3.39 = $1.00

    total savings = $14.68 = $5.99

I would recommend using multiple club cards and buy a couple of this deal!!!!!

    Sharp 60" LED TV
    Model - LC60LE857

I'm eyeing this one, but it means not going somewhere warm next winter.... Curious as to how high it goes?
Most items come up a few times, so if you miss out, no biggie!!!

And more to the point, auction items often come back as group buys---that was the one I hoped one come up today--I took the 39 inch one in case nothing else comes up--looks like the 60 inch model was up for auction earlier, and went for 12,550--I'd bet that as a group buy, it would be set at 9,500 or so. And of course, there's still more than 3 weeks left, so one never knows...

I did take my own recommendation, seconded by TC, and got the twitter deal--gave the choc. milk away to one person, will give the ice cream away for someone else, and still have the stouffers for a reasonable price (and two valuable eauction tickets as well, from an amazed cashier who saw how much the twitter code was worth

and of course there's this bit of breaking news...

My guess is that the best deals on auction items will be closer to the start, due to less participation. I think the longer the auction goes the higher the bids will be and the faster group buys will go. Just my theory.

Well it's already over 4100. I think your guess will be closer than mine. The people that bid on this must be the same ones that buy airmiles for 30 cents each.

Is there any way for me to give today's group buy (the 39" LED TV) to another collector and get their airmiles (assumption here is that they have the 2450 airmiles) credited back to me? I may have been too excited in today's purchase and now have no need for it. Turns out my parents say they don't want it.

It's funny how some people convert air miles to exact pennies. They were free to get, so whatever you get with them is bonus. Sometimes it isn't just about squeezing every last cent out, but about getting something you want for free. That's what makes it fun!!!

My comments to existing posts are fine, but can't get actual posts to stick. Same thing happens on both Airmiles and Safeway's facebook page, so maybe my entire account has been blacklisted.

Quick test: I just submitted a post to the Airmiles FB page (at around 4:45pm PDT) -- does anybody see it? It shows up for me in one place (the popup on the Highlights page) but not the other (on the main "Others" page). Strange.

Yup. Keep an eye on the ipad listing tomorrow morning. Should be interesting. Kinda like looking at a bad car crash as you drive by -- you know you shouldn't but there's a morbid fascination. ;-)

I love auctions... in person! The auctioneers ramble has such a calming effect if you listen to it right I am very content with my only purchase of the day being a timmies on the way and a order of fries at the auction... I guess I understand the entertainment aspect.

I watch that stuff too. Up bidding is a wonderful thing. You can watch the body language and bid up a few.... LOL it gets you some favors and deals with the regular sellers down the road. *looks up and whistles*.... not that "I" would know!
