    Hmm.. interesting.. Air Miles now has an ONYX level - above Gold. You need to earn 6000 Air Miles/year to qualify.

    I guess the onyx just refers, as you said, to the level--that means another color card that they won't mail out, like the gold cards.

    In prior years 6,000 wouldn't have been a problem, but this year, the AM app (which is actually pretty good) tells me I'm only at 2500 so far this year.

    Of course the fact that I haven't been in Safeway in two months hasn't helped.

    At places that sometimes reward loyalty (like, for example, Las Vegas casinos), they have similar loyalty cards with varying levels, but these cards actually have tangible benefits. Oddly enough my favorite casino group also has an ultra level card...also called Onyx card, by invitation only. (And no, they have not sent me such an invitation).
