I find that Safeway's phone CSR's are very very polite, and well trained.

I agree!! We usually shop at Superstore (can't beat the prices on most things, except with AMs!), and I'm constantly amazed at how wonderful the Safeway staff is. I like to call them "agressively nice", as whenever I wander around looking for someone, as staff person comes by to ask what I need help with!

That's awesome Bob! Wow, 15k - wouldn't it be great if they just gave cash back?

I'm with you on the valuing of the AMs and everything like that, but you lost me on the part below!!
I actually hit Safeway tonight to pick up a bunch of HE - bought 33 bottles, a cucumber and a box of chips (I needed a snack - the chips, not the cucumber!). Total came to about $114, and with the 250 bonus my Safeway is still offering, I earned 1130AMs. I value at $.135, so I ended up making $38 (even without a donation receipt). Plus I found a great cause to donate all the toiletries to, so that makes it even better!!

The charitable tax donation credits work this way.
a. You get a 29% credit on the first $200 you donate.
b. You get 44% on donations over $200
(Note: You can save total receipts for up to 5 years to get most into the 44% bracket)
1. If the $45.25 was part of a donation and you had donated less than $200 that year you'd get a $45.25 x 0.29 = $13.13 tax credit.
2. If the $45.25 was part of a donation and you had donated more than $200 total that year you'd get a $45.25 x 0.44 = $19.91 tax credit.

Ah, makes perfect sense!!! I'm still looking into the donation receipts. We're happy to give anyway when we can find great deals, but if I can get the receipts I can use that money and "roll it over" and have more in the budget for giving next year. It's win-win!! Thanks for clearing that up!!
I so regret not taking the time to really understand this thread earlier. I blame it on having small children - they make my math brain go to mush. We've now saved so much money through these deals it's not even funny!!

that would be very nice... change the gas evaluation to 14.3 cents instead of 11.4 cents per airmiles
