They don't give you the score, or the number tho. At least that was a couple of years back when I checked with them.

Laura, we got a full report and score through our credit union. I don't know if you would just have to ask, or do as we did - we went in to discuss finances.

If the report is good, than don't worry about the score... (its just a number)

Also, some reports go further back than others, which others (other than equifax) are there to get reports from? (free if possible lol)

Natalka. . . you got your credit score, but by having an institution pull it, it brings your score down and is recorded ON your credit bureau who and when they pulled your bureau.
That's ok, as long as you were making a serious inquiry. . .but if you're just "shopping around", it's not a good idea.

Doesn't that depend on what they went in to the institution to do? From my understanding, if they went to apply for products then the score will go down.. if it is for opening bank accounts and other kinds of things, its just a soft hit which doesn't affect credit scores.

Excellent question. I apologize for not being clearer.
Sometimes, being in the business I am, I assume everyone is applying for "something".
It is true, that in certain circumstances, a bankcan pull a "soft" inquiry. However, don't count on that neccesarily. Some do. Some don't.
Your best bet is to ask directly. Never assume. . like I just did. .
Thanks for bringing up the question Brynhilde

I personally always look at the score then the report. If I look at the score and find it unusual, I'll look at the report after to see if there are errors such as companies not reporting payments that were made on time, the correct amount of the payment, etc,. You'd think it wouldn't happen but it happens all the time to people.

It will cost you to find out your actual score. There are websites that will charge about $30 a month for you to get your monthly report.

Mortgages should not affect your credit score - completing multiple applications to obtain a mortgage will, but the act of having a mortgage itself will not.
