My non-stick frying pans have seen better days. There are a few more scratches and maybe one or two minor dents where there are teensy chips. I'm tempted to replace them now, DH says they're fine and can still be used.
Domestic Goddesses, how do you know it's time to replace your non-stick pans? This thread is currently associated with: N/A

I consider non stick pans as throw away pans. As soon as there is a scratch they are out the door.

When the finish is scratched they are no longer safe (i.e. chemicals being released). Out they go....

For me, it's when a scratch or two is deep enough that it's a different colour than the coating.
In the past few years, I've stopped buying the cheapie, no-name kind of ones, and have been picking up brand name ones when they go on sale at Canadian Tire - I have Cuisinart and Kitchen Aid, and they are SO awesome!

when the non-stick are sticking they are replaced, we replace our large non-stick frying pan about every 4-5 years...we use it regularly (atleast twice a week) but it is a high quality pan i find the more quality the pan the longer it will last
as for our pots we they are not non-stick but they are good quality pots (i look at pots as an investment for the kitchen, wait till they are on-sale minimum 50% off and buy a good set if you can-heck ask for pots for christmas lol this past year i asked for a good knife)When life hands you Edward Cullen...throw him back and demand Eric Northman....

We use to use a lot of non-stick pans, but we're now using more stainless steel pots and pans instead.
Like everyone else said, we toss the non-stick pans out after there's a couple of scratches. They aren't good for you after that!
The pans that we do use and are non-stick are Lagostina. We've been really happy with the quality
