This is killing me!
DD REFUSES to sleep in her toddler bed, she screams until I put her into the crib. So, I bought bed rails today, thinking it might help if I put them on the end, so the whole thing has rails, instead of just the top..but, NOPE. I had DS in her crib, and I even showed her and said, "Shhh, shh." I discussed it with her before I tried putting her in the bed, told her that her baby brother needed the crib now..but, didn't work.
So, now DS is in the bed (glad I bought those rails, so it's enclosed all around and against the wall, too), and she's in the crib...*sigh*This thread is currently associated with: N/A

eesh sticky issue. when each of my sons was ready to come out of their cribs as we were moving from a one bdroom to a two we used it as an opportunity to get two low beds and made it all fancy for them a big production. they loved it.

Could you have her sleep in a playpen until she decides to use the toddler bed?

How old is she? Generally you should keep kids in a crib as long as you can....

Have you considered something 'extra' that is just for her with the toddler bed such as a ceiling canopy? They are pretty cheap at walmart and just hang from a hook in the ceiling.
It might convince her to move to the bed.

we waited until she was ready to come out before we turned the crib into a toddler bed.. is there a chance it might not be about the bed it might be that she no longer feels like "the baby" and that she's been replaced as the baby by the new baby? (she had to give up her bed for the new baby), 2 does seem a lil young to be set into a toddler bed (though we were in a crib till nearly 3-they always tell you to wait till they climb out and she never did!)

We took DD shopping and let her pick out her own 'special' Dora bedding for the her new bed...it worked, she totally got excited about her new bed. She was also under two, but she was ready. I also think this is more about your little one having to let the baby have HER bed.

I agree with getting special bedding - that helped for us.
Another option is just to put a mattress on the floor for a while to see if she gets used to that - so she can get out easily during the night if she needs to use the potty.
Our son changed over just at two years old, he was very excited to use the big boy bed!

The first time our DS climbed out of the crib he was about two, and that was the last time he slept there. We dismantled the crib that day so he didn't have much choice! Not an option for you I guess.
We didn't bother with the toddler bed, although we had one. By then he was quite tall and nearly too long to fit on the crib mattress anyhow, and the toddler bed used the same one. We tried him on the mattress on the floor for a few nights but he rolled all over. Finally we just took our spare double bed from the basement and put him in that with a rail on the side. He'd sleep with his face smooshed up again the rail for the longest time!

Oh, she does love to sleep with her face smushed against the side of the crib!
That's the position she puts herself in every time I lie her down. But when I go wake her up, she's the opposite way, cuddling her Violet.
She did pick out the bed and bedding. It's a Winnie the Pooh bed, and she has a Winnie the Pooh yellow and blue goodnight reversible blanket, and a yellow with blue swirls pillow. The new rails even have Elmo on them (which she also loves) so I thought they'd be good..but, nope.
Well, DS did fine sleeping in it.. Maybe she's just not ready. We are potty training right now (not going fantastic, she loves the toilet, she just doesn't DO anything on it..) so maybe it's too much at once.
Oh, and the toddler bed, we've had for about 3 months before DS. I tried then, too.

What do you do if your DS is only nine months and already trying to climb out of the crib? We've dropped it as low to the floor as it can go, but it seems like it's just a matter of time before he escapes and I'm worried about him falling and hurting himself.
