Wow, Kevin I never would have got that answered. I've been spending time trying to google it and everything and couldn't come up with it. American Woman with the Guess Who at the Broom and & Stone, never would have guessed it!!!
I remember Cedarbrae Mall, going with my friend sometimes.
What about The Golden Mile, Loocie, and pics of that one. That was I think the first mall in Scarborough even visited by the Queen when she was here, (don't remember where I heard that but nevertheless I did!)

My wife grew up in the Bayview & Sheppard area too. I think she said that she went to George S Henry.
I remember the Red Barn, especially that theme song of theirs and their knock-off Sesame Street characters for mascots. There's an old Red Barn location in Cambridge on Hwy # 24. Over the years it's been a few different furniture stores including a waterbed store in the late 70s / early 80s. Not sure what's in there today but I'm pretty sure that the building is still standing. I think there's also one that's still standing in Kitchener at Victoria and Weber.

I love that story. They've told it at least twice in the last few years during concerts that we've attended. I also like Randy's story about how he came up with the flip side (No Sugar Tonight). If I remember right, he was walking down a street in San Francisco and was being followed by three or four guys who were fairly intimidating. He tried crossing the street to put some distance between himself and them but they just followed him. As the guys were getting closer and he was about to break into a run to try to get away, a car came along and the woman driving stopped by the gang of guys and started cursing out one of them who was obviously her boyfriend. She was giving him the business for harrassing a stranger and she told him something like, "If you don't get your sorry ass home, you won't be gettin' no sugar tonight!"
The rest as they say, is history.A truly wise man never plays leapfrog with a unicorn.
Never beam down in a red shirt!

I don't (that Etobicoke thing again) but the other half grew up in Scarborough and this aft I enlightened him on the Q conversation. He mentioned:
- the Inn - but had it pegged as the Gouge Inn
- KFC at Vic Park & Lawrence (claim to fame - first KFC in Canada)
- the open air toboggan slide (around Cedarbrae Collegiate)
- Grant Smith & The Power aka EGSmith & The Power at Broom & Stone
- Toronto Shotgun/Steel River (10 lb note)
And a trivia question right back at you:
What was arguably the Most Famous band to play at a high school in Scarborough?
Helpful hints:
- other half went to high school in the mid 60's and it was at a Sadie Hawkins dance during that period
- once the band broke up, she went on to have a fantastic solo career and
based on her hit in the mid 80's, she could have worked at the Knob Hill

That's a great flip side story Flyguy.
I just taught my 11 year old daughter what a flip side was last year, I still have my 45's including American Woman and that's a cool flip side story, I'll have to tuck that one away for a trivia contest. If I could only teach the kids how to text on the rotary phone next to the 45's we could save a lot on cells & phone bills.
