several shirts that my dh will go through to see if he likes them
1 pair cargo shorts for dh to look at
1 hard cover book by John Irving (as in Cider House Rules)
1 enamel (fireplace type) blue teapot
1 lovely set of notepads, pen wrapped nicely with a flower (for Mom's Day for my dsil)
I think that's it.. Thanks so much Speckled28!Last edited by avoncallingu; Fri, May 11th, 2012 at 02:34 AM.

On Wednesday somebody RAOK'ed a full Value Village stamp card to me - this was in the Orleans store... I just wanted to post a huge THANK YOU, hoping this person might be on the boards. When she offered it to me I was a bit zoned out (going through the racks zones me out... nope, nope, nope, yup, nope, nope... Lol) so it took me a minute to realize what she was giving me
I didn't need it on Wednesday because of the presale, but I went back today and got a few cute things including a lululemon sweater for about $10!

If you have a VV card - I was told by the cashier that you can get the 50% off on Sunday - before the Monday sale.

I went to a Garage sale at my kids school on the weekend. I wasn't expecting much but came home with a full basket under my stroller. I scored a like new condition Toy story 3 sleeping bag for 25 cents, 2 Narnia books for my son for 50 cents and a couple Barbie DVD's in mint condition for my daughter who loves Barbie shows for 2.00 each. My fave score was the wack load of clothing I purchased from my oldest son's teacher. She has 2 little girls and great taste in clothing. I paid 2.00 each for a ton of like new summer clothing for my 18 month and 3 year olds. All TCP, Old Navy or Baby Gap brands and even a couple boutique dresses. I almost wanted to buy the entire bin and put the sizes 3-3x away until my 18 month old will fit them.

That's great, mckbutterfly! Maybe you can approach the teacher an ask her if you can make future purchases from her. We have a lady at our church who spends a fortune on her daughter's clothes and then always donates them to our garage sales - people line up just to get first dibs!

I miss having a good secondhand store. When I lived in Alliston Ontario, which was about 2 hrs away from Toronto there was an excellent secondhand store. I got a lot of things there for really reasonable prices. When I moved I donated most of the stuff back to them.
I did keep a couple of the things that I got like beautiful wall candle holders, tags still on it for $15 a piece, I got for 2.50 for two.Try out the maven box by julep And code FREEFB, and get your box for one cent:

I got those from the SPCA thrift store. I've seen seen some other $1 racks at church owned stores, but they're normally just junk!
My Value Village didn't have a pre-sale event for members...that's what it stated in the e-mail I received as well. You guys are lucky if yours had one! I'm really not looking forward to the zoo tomorrow, but here's hoping it'll be worth it!
My recent finds. I've been trying to find some nice purses and I wasn't disappointed:
Rabbit fur/chainmail clutch: $12
Brown leather Coach bag: $3
Black leather Coach bag: $3
Black leather bag: $3.50
Straw chain purse: $2.80
Leather/pony hair purse: $5.60
I found some nice genuine snakeskin purses too. I love exotic leathers!
Some close ups:
I loved the hardware on the black one! It's a brand that tried to be high end but went out of business...too bad, the quality is really nice!
I also got a fur coat for $10. That was the store's regular price, crazy!>>BRAND NAMES up to 90% off* - join BEYOND THE RACK and get $10 FREE!<<

I decided to check out the 0.99 sale at Salvation Army today. Turns out the 0.99 sections weren't great (I didn't get a chance to go until 6 pm so I'm guessing anything good had been picked clean well before that) BUT I found two great pieces in the regular priced sections!
1 x Topshop Dress @ 7.99
1 x Topshop shorts @ 1.99
I did some research online and found the same dress on The Bay website but in a different colour for $84 CDN!!! Also found similar shorts (in terms of style and material) on the US Topshop site for $76!!!!
It was a big plus that I found these items because I have a very petite frame and for that reason pants/shorts and dresses are hard to find... I often need to get dresses taken in. These fit so well! I'd love to know who donated them since they obviously are my size haha!
Also, since I brought in a donation, I got a coupon for $5 off my next purchase of $25 or more. I couldn't find much else to buy so I stocked up on children's books. 0.49 each + B3G1. So 1.47 for 3. There were lots of great books/series, including Quidditch Through the Ages, Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants (in hardcover no less!), Magic Treehouse, Scooby Doo, Pokemon, Little House books by Laura Ingalls Wilder, and Magical Fairies.
In total I got 1 dress, 1 pair of shorts, and 48 books (50 items!) for $22.62!!! Now that's a thrifty bargain!Last edited by Miabee; Fri, May 25th, 2012 at 10:58 PM.

Ooh I just found this thread and I love it! I went to Value Village this past Thursday during their 30% off sale and DH found two nice shirt sleeve button up shirts for $7 each (reg $10) and a Tommy Hillfiger long sleeve white dress shirt for $9! Amazing to find stuff in perfect condition.
Only the clothes were on sale so I picked up a few household things at reg price:
- Tupperware cereal holder, $1.99 (I love buying Tupperware brand at thrift stores because it has a lifetime guarantee. Even better if it is cracked or broken as Tupperware will replace it for free!)
- GoGreen lunch box, brand new with tags, $2.99 - usually retails for $45!!
- Ikea cutting board, $1.99 brand new, not a scratch on it!Want to earn free Aeroplan or HBC points for completing short surveys? Click here to join Asking Canadians!
