My sister and her DH have been trying for 7 years to have a baby. They finally came to terms that they weren't going to be able to have any, and were okay with that. They made plans to do things during different times of the year (she was going to go to Vegas for her 30th bday, and they were going to go somewhere warm for Christmas).
She found out she was pregnant in late February. She was soooooooooo excited, and so was I (this will be my first 'real' niece or nephew from my side of the family).
Fast forward to this weekend....she had some spotting and went to the hospital. They did an ultrasound and found not one, but TWO babies :D :D She called me in tears she was so happy!!! She went yesterday for a follow-up US and yup, there are TWO! One is a boy. They weren't sure if there was 1 or 2 placentas, which would determine if they are identical or fraternal. I'm going with her tomorrow to the dr for a referral. She is 16 weeks now.
I promised her that I will help build a stock pile of diapers for her!! And, of course, I will help her with the babies when they are born, but I will NOT be getting up with them I'm passed that stage in my life
Sorry it's so long, but I'm super excited :DThis thread is currently associated with: N/A

This happens a lot
Sometimes the disappointed couple opt for adoption and then find out that they are pregnant.
I think the obstetrician magicians still do not understand the mysteries of conception, pregnancy and childbirth, even in 2012.
Such a nice story OP.

Congratulations! What a great story!
It can be so difficult for couples who are on the journey of trying to conceive and have experienced difficulty. It just figures though--once they stopped fretting about it, it happened naturally on its own.
Twins. That sounds really fun and as Auntie, you get to enjoy them and play with them AND not be sleep deprived either! Lucky you!"Be yourself. Everyone else is already taken." Oscar Widle
