The Dog Thread!

BF and I were at the grocery store last night and in the mall they had the SPCA there showing puppies....omg we almost went home with a pug/jack russel mix he was adorable...but I have no clue how these dogs are or even if there good for apartment living...plus I fell bad since were gone from 9 to 5 most days for work .... but I want it! lol

The pug in him would be good for an apartment, but the Jack Russel would be really energetic. Plus with a puppy it would be hard to house train and stuff if you were gone all day. Puppies are really cute, but defiantly not an impulse buy.

What about getting an adult dog, much easier then house training a puppy, and they wouldn't need the constant supervision that a puppy would require. Plus if you or your BF work someplace nearby you could go home at noon and let him/her outside.

As much as I want a dog I know it would not be fair to it..so until we have a house I will control myself haha BUT I also want a cat...heck I will even settle for a pet squirrel hahahaha I love cats, there facial expressions kill me haha But BF is a big dog person...but I see him stopping to look at cats too so maybe I am rubbing off

Oh boy. . . That would be one high energy dog, I'll tell you. . .and stubborn. I love both breeds, especially Jack Russell, but they're VERY mischeivious. If you're gone all day, i'd stick to a calmer breed. That or doggy day care.
I'm a sucker for punishment myself cause i love high energy dogs, but it's a big commitment.

I have two beautiful little miniature poodles. One is red and the other is blonde. They are sister and brother and weigh 8 and 12 pounds each, respectively. They are sweet and cuddly but the boy does not like most men, including my husband - lol. The worst habit they have is that they do like to eat poop. Right now we have millions of rabbit poops out front (why I don't know - we have 100 acres and surely they don't need to be by the house!). Anyway, I refer to these as coco puffs and they love to eat those. We try not to let them french kiss us, though they always try!

we've got a poop eater here too (we have a strict no licking policy!!) we like to joke with our friends that we dont have to clean the backyard cause our dog cleans up after himself.

on the subject of good apartment dogs, an older pug is great. all they want to do is sleep and dont require alot of exercise. you just have to make sure to moniter the diet as obesity is a problem (see picture below lol).

this is jonah our 5 year old purebred pug. he doesnt like sleeping on the floor so when his bed is in the wash he will sleep on ANYTHING out of desperation, including....the heater vents, stinky shoes and shoe boxes!!

lol Jonah is hilarious. My dogs love their own poopsicles too. Disgusting though it is and as much as I wish they wouldn't eat that, it does make for less clean up. Right now there is sooo much rabbit poop outside that it is one reason I am looking forward to the heavy snow fall coming - so they will be hopefully buried to deep to dig out! I saw Cesar Milan once give a dog pieces of banana to encourage the dog to eat banana instead and I've tried that but they like what they like. Gag. lol.

So our 4month old Jenny had her first bath today. I was prepared for a wild time, since she`s so high-energy and stubborn, but I lowered her slowly and gently into the tub of warm water and she lifted one paw, then the other, and I was waiting for `wild child`, but she drank a little of the water and let me pour the water over her back, soap her up, rinse, condition her coat, dry her off, afterwhich she wailed on the bath towel on the floor, but then kept trying to climb back into the tub!!! She stretched up, just pawing on the tub and let out a little whine....unbelievable!!! And TOO cute!

Oh, shes a sweetie-pie!!! And so shiny again!!
