saw some chickadees. theres a hawk in moms neighborhood, i hope i don't see it eat a chickadee

One time, I was with a friend, and I looked up, and on a high branch of a big tree, I saw
a bird holding another bird in its claws.
The bird being held looked like a pigeon, and was the same size as its captor.
The bird holding the pigeon looked like a falcon.

Now I live in Ottawa, and I found out recently that we do have peregrine falcons here, a bare few.

I think what I saw must have been a peregrine falcon, and its just such an exciting concept! =D

But I'm really not sure.
Anyone know what else it might have been?

Maybe a hawk just guessing thow. I readjusted my can of bacon fat so the Hairy Woodpecker could get at it ???? I put my birdfeeder in a differant spot this winter,poor woody could not get at the fat because he had nothing to stand on so hopefully they will get at it they love the fat.

i was told that sharp shinned hawk is eating all the juncos that are around the area and as long as he has lunch he his likely to stay. a robin today

Peregrine falcons are learning to live and hunt quite well in the cities.They used to be cliff nesters so the highrises are perfect for them.They are encouraged to live in cities because their favourite food is pigeons.I hope my pigeon is OK out in the big bad world.( I raised and released a baby pigeon I found on our main street)

I just take a tin can that you can open both ends of and pour my bacon drippings in it along with a few bread crusts and when I am finished a jar of peanut butter scrape the sides and add that also,keep in freezer and when full open other end and (this is dangerous) push a string threw and tie up outside.good for winter not summer eh

I think I will try that. So far I haven't really seen any birds yet. Maybe I should put out some treats

We went out yesterday for a drive and saw 2 snowy owls.One young one on the ground in a park and the other -a full grown male was on a hydro pole.got lots of pics and some shaky video(my fault not the birds).will put them on when I put them on my computer.They are very big and beautiful birds and it makes me feel good to know they are here and free.

I can't believe it because I saw a snowy owl on Thursday too. I was going to pick my husband up at work and he flew right across in front of me and landed on a lamp post 40 ft. up. This may be nothing to you guys but i'm in Montreal. I have never seen one in my life and it was just the most beautiful thing i ever saw. I took a pic. with my phone but he looks miniscule.

In the past week, have seen, wild Turkeys, hawk, chickadees, cardinals, crows. No Skippy, don't think the cardinals are from Arizona, lol!
