Calgary's Nenshi had some pretty harsh words for Uber:
"I was at a conference and I met Travis, the CEO, and I was like, 'Oh, it's because you are a dick and this has percolated through the entire organization,'"
"We sent people to sign up to be Uber drivers to see if they could get through the background check," he said."How we found registered sex offenders and people with convictions for violent crimes? I don't want to know why we know those people … but they all made it through the theoretical background screening. And so we were like, you know what Uber? We are going to do the background screening, the cops are going to do the background screening."

I don't know about you, but I don't feel safe enough when considering Uber, especially as a woman. I don't think I will ever use it.

^^I feel more let down by 23.6 million spent to investigate the less than $1 million in questionable expenses.

Chernobyl disaster: Ukraine marks 30th anniversary
Commemorations are under way in Ukraine to mark the 30th anniversary of the nuclear disaster at Chernobyl.
Sirens were sounded at the same moment as the first explosion at the reactor, in the early hours of 26 April 1986.
The meltdown at the Soviet plant was the worst nuclear disaster in history.
An uncontrolled reaction blew the roof off, spewing out a cloud of radioactive material which drifted into other parts of the USSR, including Russia and Belarus, and northern Europe.
Relatives of those who died attended candle-lit vigils at several churches, including at Slavutych, a town built to re-house workers who lived near the nuclear plant. A series of events are being held throughout the day.
People laid flowers at a memorial to firefighters and workers who died in the disaster

Reactor 4, the site of the explosion at Chernobyl.
The Chernobyl nuclear disaster started during a systems test of Reactor 4. A sudden power surge occurred, and when the workers attempted to shut it down, it resulted in an even bigger energy spike. A reactor vessel ruptured and a series of steam explosions rocked the plant. Another part of the reactor ignited, sending a highly radioactive cloud into the atmosphere.
Canadian adventurer George Kourounis wanted to see firsthand the toll such a disaster took on a town that once housed the workers of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.

The parents have a Facebook support page and until the verdict, it was full of loyal followers. Since the verdict, people are coming to tell them exactly what they think of the parents. It's harsh!

^ I had gone on there a few weeks ago, even then not all posts were positive.
Ew, I just went on - really hard to read the posts still supporting them.
This case hits close to our family - my older sister's daughter had meningitis as a baby, and she was really close to not making it - was a very scary time.
