Did you hear about this? It's amazing how people can get so worked up about a cookie ad...

OmG! I just noticed I spelled "cookie" wrong in the subject line!
How can I change it?!?!

To fix a title, go to edit, then go advanced. If it doesn't let you change the title (that happens sometimes), just ask a mod. Don't worry, I knew you weren't posting about slavery...
I couldn't figure out how to get to pages two and three of the story you posted, so I googled other articles.
Some people want companies to stay neutral, others don't mind if they promote or support causes.
I actually heard an interview about more advertising being catered to the GLBTQI communities.

Don't look for them in the stores, though, they don't exist.Last edited by Natalka; Wed, Jun 27th, 2012 at 11:07 AM.

Thank you, Zonny...lol...and Natalka!
Yes, as the article stated, it was just an ad to promote their views that caused the controversy...if I had a company I'd certainly stay neutral on most issues...not doing so just begs for opposition from someone!

It's too bad they aren't for sale...I'd buy bunches of them and pass them out to everyone I know!

I don't eat oreos (I'm allergic to chocolate and don't eat store-bought cookies), but I would buy a bag of pride oreos, share them around, and eat the icing out of the middle of 'em. I think that it's wonderful for companies to show their support for groups who are normally ignored and oppressed, despite the fact that almost everybody will know someone who's a member of the GLBTQI (I'm sure I'm missing some other letters that could be added here) community. Family and friends of mine who identify as GLBTQI tend to be very, very supportive of companies and organizations that show them respect and support, especially what with all the crap they've endured just because of who they are.
(And, companies that are trying to sell products should remember that members of the GLBTQI community generally have more disposable income than their heterosexual peers, particularly due to the high number of double-income, no kid (DINK) families... )

My question as always to homophobes is "What's it to you?" get over it. 15% of the population, maybe more identify as gay
Leave them alone, it's about time.

Patty, don't know where you got your number, but that's way too high.
Last study I found was 3.5% in the US.

Still, I concur with what glowworm said about their purchasing ability. I've been searching my brain since I posted earlier, and just cannot for the life of me remember what I was listening to when I heard the interview.... will post it if I do remember.

I thought so too. I checked statscan earlier for Canada numbers and they put homosexuals and bisexuals combined in Canada at 2%. I really thought it was higher. Of course, people may not be being truthful when they answer surveys.

I read somewhere a long time ago that it is actually closer to 15%(probably why I initially wrote that) but people are afraid to say it.

Good for Kraft!
I would totally buy MORE Kraft cookies because of that ad. The cookie ad is awesome!"Be yourself. Everyone else is already taken." Oscar Widle
