Less than a week after his retirement, CBS News has confirmed that "60 Minutes" correspondent Morley Safer has passed away at age 84.

Born in Toronto, Safer eventually became an American citizen, but held dual citizenship.

Safer began his career writing for newspapers in Woodstock, ON and London, ON, before landing a job in London, England, then returning to Toronto to work as a reporter and editor at the CBC. This eventually landed him on the air.

After continuing his career in the US, Safer joined "60 Minutes" in 1970

For those of us that remember watching Mr. Ed (The Talking Horse)

RIP Alan Young....I didn't realize he (as a child) lived in Vancouver.

Alan Young, who starred as Wilbur Post on the 1960s CBS hit Mister Ed, died Thursday at the age of 96

Born on November 19, 1919 in North Shields, England, Young moved to Canada at a young age. During his childhood, he suffered from severe asthma, which kept him bedridden but also fostered his appreciation for radio. By the age of 13 he was performing on radio, and by 17 he was running his own show for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. The Alan Young Show aired in the U.S. in 1944, when Young was living in New York. The show later made the jump to television, debuting on CBS as a variety and sketch show in 1950. It ran for three years and won an Emmy for best variety show and earned Young an Emmy for best actor.

    RIP "The Greatest"

Muhammad Ali, the eloquent, colorful, controversial and brilliant three-time heavyweight boxing champion who was known as much for his social conscience and staunch opposition to the Vietnam War as for his dazzling boxing skills, died Friday. Ali, who had a long battle with Parkinson's disease, was taken to a Phoenix area hospital earlier this week where he was being treated for a respiratory issue. He was 74.
Born Cassius Marcellus Clay Jr. on Jan. 17, 1942, in Louisville, Ky.

Bobby Curtola, former Canadian teen idol, dead at 73

A teen idol in Canada during the early '60s, Curtola also made his mark internationally in 1962 with the singles Fortune Teller and Aladdin.
Curtola, who was born in what is now Thunder Bay, Ont., was named to the Order of Canada in 1997.
He was also known for his charity work, particularly for children.

Up until early 2016, Curtola was living in Port Mouton, N.S. He moved after his partner Karyn Rochford died in a car crash in Nova Scotia in December 2015.

Curtola's career began at 16, after he recorded his first hit single Hand in Hand With You.
He went on to establish the first coast to coast tour circuit in Canada, his website said. He released one of his biggest hits, Fortune Teller in 1962.

Curtola's work in the 1960s yielded 25 Canadian Gold singles and 12 Canadian Gold albums, according to a biography on his website.
In 1972 he was signed to a five-year contract in Las Vegas, making him the first Canadian entertainer to receive a long term deal in the city, according to his website.

Later in his career he began a relationship with The Princess Cruises, performing on ships in the Caribbean and Mediterranean for twelve years.
Curtola received a Queen's Golden Jubilee Medal in 2002 and a Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2012

In June of 1964, Bobby became the first pop singer to record a jingle that sounded like a “Top 40 Hit Single,” the song was “Things Go Better with Coke.” He signed an exclusive contract with Coca-Cola to be their #1 Spokesman. I was lucky I got to see him in maybe 1983 (?) in my home city. He did a cabaret, and wow we all had a blast. We had met him in a bar before the show (I was working for a local newspaper), then went to the venue where he sang his heart out. He was SO much fun with the audience, he really could get everyone going, singing and dancing. Wonderful, awesome smile all the time!
