He opened his show Friday night wearing a Gordie Howe Detroit Red Wings jersey honouring the hockey legend who passed away earlier in the day.

Christina Grimmie shot dead after concert

The man suspected of killing US singer Christina Grimmie apparently came from another city to confront her, police in Florida say.Police chief John Mina said the gunman "travelled to Orlando to commit this crime" but did not appear to know her personally.
Ms Grimmie was shot while signing autographs after a concert in the city on Friday night, and died in hospital.
In 2014, she was a contestant on US TV programme The Voice.

Police say Ms Grimmie was shot about 22:45 local time on Friday (02:45 GMT Saturday) at The Plaza Live in Orlando.

The statue of Gordie Howe at SaskTel Centre in Saskatoon is quickly becoming a focal point as hockey fans note the death of the hockey legend.

Entertainer Garth Brooks, who is performing at the arena, bought 100 bouquets to add to the flowers already placed since Howe's death on Friday.

On Saturday, prior to his second night of back-to-back concerts at SaskTel Centre, a handful of workers on behalf of Brooks went to the Costco Wholesale store near the arena to get the bundles of flowers.

‘Alf’ Actor Michu Meszaros Dies at 76

Michu Meszaros, an actor who brought the titular alien in ’80s sitcom “Alf” to life, has died.

Meszaros, standing at just 2 feet 9 inches tall, was born in Hungary. He performed in the circus before heading to TV, and he was billed as the “smallest man in the world” as he worked in the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus in the ’70s.

Meszaros’ biggest claim to fame, however, is “Alf” - Gordon Shumway, aka ALF (Alien Life Form), from the planet Melmac. The curmudgeonly creature crash-landed in a suburban family's garage and America's living room in 1986. The NBC sitcom ran for four seasons.

The alien, voiced by Paul Fusco, was typically only shown from the waist-up, with puppeteers controlling his movements. For shots that required Alf’s whole body to be shown, though, Meszaros appeared on camera, wearing the full-body costume.
