We just bought a big sack of corn. Now I want to cook them, cut off the corn and freeze. What's the easiest way to get the corn off the cobs?
One more question....Do you first cook the corn then cut it off the cobs? or, do you first cut it off then cook the corn? This thread is currently associated with: N/ALast edited by mwieler; Wed, Aug 8th, 2012 at 01:01 PM.

You can use a simple knife, but there is a utensil:

I haven't personally used it, but I've seen it used and it works very well....probably any kitchen store should have it....

Best way to contain the corn is to use a bundt pan - put the tip of the cob in the centre hole, then when you cut off the kernels, they go in the pan. It steadies the corn cob, so easier to do that just hold it in a bowl.
Or you could go all MacGyver ---

Its best to blanch the corn and not fully cook it before freezing. After you blanch it, place it in cold water. I love to buy lots of corn and freeze it, instead if paying 3 bucks a bag where I live.
