I had an awesome sdm coupon of 4000 pts wub any one-a-day vitamin, and a mail in rebate of $5.00 starbucks card. One-a-day vitamins were on sale for $9.99 so these would have been absolutely free for me BUT they had gelatin in them so i couldnt take advantage of this deal.

Thats what happened to us with centrum, after coupon it was just a $1. After we got home and checked the ingredients it said gelatin so we just donated it to a food bank marked gelatin. Maybe you can still take advantage of the deal and have some free vitamins to donate?

I need to print $50 ish in coupons from Smartsource but it has refused to work on my computer for many years. This is a substantial enough amount that it is annoying me. Guess I have to go find a library and hope no one has printed those already LOL

Could be religious restrictions for beef or pork gelatin. I don't want to speak for other members though

This idea came to my mind today afternoon. Now the coupon is expired but i am going to put it to good use the next time i get it. Hopefully i get it before the starbucks mail in rebate offer expires.

Oh i remembered something..... i have noticed that almost all the big companies put gelatin in their vitamins etc. But some store brands do not put gelatin. I have donated 3 centrum last year to food bank because of the gelatin thingy. Then i bought store brand vitamins and it didnt have gelatin. Dont know the reason though.

Yeah you're right, I'm using some nofrills store brand right now, it doesnt have gelatin and its cheaper than most vitamins. DH checked centrum's ingredients side by side with the nofrills brand and everything was the same besides having no gelatin.

I try to sell my stuff on eBay instead of Kijiji because I cannot stand Kijiji no shows anymore. Now on eBay, I have to deal with non-payers. I have sold a grand total of 3 items and 2 of the sellers have been deadbeats that I need to follow up on.

Gelatin comes from animals. Vegans and vegetarians want to avoid that.

It's also something anyone observing Christian fasts like Lent and Advent want to avoid in their food products if the gelatin is animal-based due to the dietary rules applicable (no animal products/no dairy/no eggs) during the fasts.

I'm aware there is a seaweed based gelatin: agar-agar. I've learned there are Turkish delight treats also using a non-animal sourced gelatin. Have to find out what it is.

maybe when you are done reading it you can donate it to the library (if it isnt an expensive book) so they will have the whole series for others who want to read it.
