Thread: Maxi Rant

Mon, Jul 20th, 2026, 11:25 PM #1
It happened yesterday evening.
I taught of not doing a rant about this but I am so upset so I want points of view.
I ranted in a french couponning fb group today.
I got the response in french couponning group that many stores dont accept printed coupons anymore...that is sad...
Couponners are about to losing all their rights!!!!
Here is the story.
I wanted to pass 2 printed coupons in black and withe and was refuted by my Maxi.
I always highlight in yellow the nip when they having one and show to the cashier.
It is crazy because I used 3 printed black and white coupons last wednesday without any problems.
Some coupons we only have access to them by printing ....example kelloggs, websaver and go coupons.
So I dont know when the rule has changed....
Basically the cashier said to me she get the notice of not accepting them anymore because of the photocopy.
Well...quite shocked I learned today from a member in french couponning group fb that you can make colors photocopy too....
In all my years of couponning I was always making my prints black and white because color ink is so crazy expensive.Never it was a photocopy!!!!
So basically I will have to purchase a new printer because mine now dont quite work well.
AND BUY COLOR INK because of that new silly rule....Unfair!!!
I even dont know if they accept color prints I will have to ask a manager or supervisor next time I go to Maxi.
I called today but they are not able to provide a clear answer....
Before and it is still on the coupon if he is in English has to have a Ontario mention.
Last year they stopped allowing price matching + coupon togheter....Phew they put off that rule after at least.
The wording of a coupon dont count they just check the pictures on the coupon.
See so many problems at this Maxi.
And Maxi is the cheap place I can get my grocery and afford.
Oh and I cannot print Unilever coupons and their consumer service is useless!!!!
The end.
Thank you for reading me.Last edited by cath007; Mon, Jul 20th, 2026 at 11:40 PM.

oh boy, @cath007 I had no idea the number of roadblocks you have had to face when using a coupon in Montreal.
A working printer is a necessary expense that cuts into any savings coupons can give us, and now you're saying
that colour ink might need to be used? That might be a cost too high.
It does seem unfair when policy changes are put in place with very little warning. It's to discourage shoppers from
presenting coupons at their store. You mentioned Maxi is the one place you get the best savings at so challenging
you every time you have a coupon is so disappointing.
A Maxi rant makes sense. Not sure you'll solve this issue as the stores seem to hold all the power with raising prices,
shrinking products and denying coupons.

Ouff! I shop at my Maxi (in Vaudreuil) all the time and have had no issues with printed coupons (either black and white or colour) OR price-matching and using coupons. I think that the issues are based on the policies or the interpretation of the policies of the personnel at each location. Also, it depends on the cashier or floor supervisor and their attitude on a specific day or the amount and quality of their training.
It sucks that you have had so many problems at your Maxi.

UPDATE:
I asked directly in store at Consumer desk if they will take colors printed coupons.
Their response is yes.
Now to see if I want and can afford to buy a printer and after colored ink....
For the others groceries stores no problems so I will continue to print the coupons in black and white only. The goal is to live day by day not to much thinking hahaha !!!!

I bought yesterday at WM this printer .It was on rollback of $20. So $57,23 after the $20 rollback and ecofees. With taxes it came to $65 something.
As for ink after I buy refurbished ink.
HP DeskJet 2900 all in one.
It is really the cheaper one I have seen in price.
Similar model as my last one who last 5 years.
I printed this morning in color without any problems.
My coupons where accepted at Maxi.Last edited by cath007; Thu, Aug 6th, 2026 at 06:18 PM.
