Thread: Krave cereal ingredients

Kashi has successfully deceived many. Im just about to throw all Kelloggs products out of my house for good. If you look at a box of natures path cereal, there is not a single unpronounceable word in the ingredients. No BHT, NO GMO. Why does Kelloggs, or others have to use so many perservatives? Because the cereal you're eating was made 2-6 months ago. Yuck

Don't be deceived by 'low fat' products either...there's usually more crap in those than in a 'regular full fat' product......and it drives me nuts that companies lure people to buy products because they are low in calories....even though they are full of additives/chemicals.....and try googling artificial sweeteners if you really want a good scare! ...... don't get me started !!!!!

Isn't the BHT actually in the bag though? Without it, your cereal goes stale mighty fast??
And its an antioxidant! Doesn't that mean its super good for me will cure everything?
All kidding aside...pretty sure that KRAVE is not very good for you....way too much sugar.

Reasonable amounts of fat are not what causes weight gain. Its all the SUGAR that converts to fat if the energy is not put to use. Good lord, OP opened a can of worms :D

I was cruising the cereal aisles last night and every kelloggs product had BHT in the ingredients. General Mills has put BHT in their packaging and not directly in the food.Last edited by tubby; Wed, Sep 5th, 2012 at 12:15 PM.

Lawdy, I didn't know about BHT (nor BHA) -
What is BHT? Butylated Hydroxytoluene, or BHT, is an anti-oxidant which reacts with oxygen free radicals to slow down the autoxidation rate of ingredients in a product that can cause changes in the taste or color. As such, it is primarily used to prevent fats in foods from becoming rancid – but it is also used in cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, jet fuels, rubber, petroleum products, electrical transformer oil, and embalming fluid.
Oy! But we don't want to eat stale or rancid cereal...

most of the public is driven by the media for foods, cars, styles of clothes , phones, games, etc... but i laugh at most commercials because its a load of crap . Its funny how so many people can be fooled but sad in another way . I eat some junk but i try and avoid buying products that are on commercials as i dont want to out of spite.

Wow. A hot debate, this cereal. Who'd've thunkit?
Well, against my better judgment, I DID buy two boxes of the cereal a few months ago. There was s ale and then a coupon and well, the rest is history. My one kid liked it; the other one didn't. Despite clipping the coupons from the back of my boxes, I don't think I will invest in this cereal again. It troubled my conscience too much when I saw the ingredient list. I did not read all the comments so sorry if I am repeating anyone else's opinion. I hated the idea of this Kraze cereal from the moment I saw it. Well actually I dislike buying any breakfast cereals now for my family since I went GF and have felt the huge health benefit. Steel cut oats for me, or certified gluten free Oatmeal ( large flake) , most cereals are loaded with crap, stuff we don't need.
Still have to get DH his plain Cheerioes, and his Special K for now....but soon he promises to join me. For now my 2 DS's have been the only two eating up all the stockpiled cereal I had from those hilarious free towels!! We are almost out, thank goodness.
Then I will hatch my master plan to get everyone eating healthy cereal!! bwahahaha
Just read back a few posts, so I ran and read the ingredients on my Bob's Red Mill large flake GF oatmeal and it says
" wheat Free rolled oats " That is it....no other ingredient.
That is the way to go folks.Last edited by walkonby; Sat, Sep 8th, 2012 at 05:31 AM.

I tried a few pieces at a sample stand in walmart. Never ever again. Look, texture and shape reminded me of oversized whiskas temptations, complete with the 'soft middle'. YUCK.

Well, I'm not gonna lie. While it's smart marketing on Kellogg's behalf because the name is quite clever in a dirty subliminal kind of way, the name "Krave" bugs the hell out of me.
I think this is because they spell it with a "K."
I've never had any use for aberrations in spelling though. Drives me flipping nuts when I see people make things plural with a "z." Ugh. Don't be so effin LAZY!!"Be yourself. Everyone else is already taken." Oscar Widle

I've been looking for a place to leave feedback. I think I emailed them, but I couldn't find a facebook page to leave a comment on.
