Yay Blue Jays. We taped the game so we could watch it when we got home. I did see the end, however, on the TV at a restaurant that we had lunch at after DH's appointment in London. He made me promise not to tell him. We celebrated later.

I hope that Lynn is enjoying her camp and also resting her leg when it needs it.

I remember the last time the Jays won the World Series. (Yes, I'm THAT old!)

I've always enjoyed seeing a game at the Sky Dome! (I know, I know!) I was there the first couple of weeks it was open. (Yes, I'm THAT old!)

Ok - I picked up a bunch of Roma tomatoes from a friend's garden today. There must be an easier way to freeze them than the way I picked. I still have half a sink full to finish tomorrow. I made a small X slit in the bottoms, boiled them for 23 seconds, into some ice water - peeled the skins then cut them open and removed the seeds. Then froze the bits in freezer bags.
Is there a way to freeze them whole? Or a good recipe (minus onions, garlic, sugar) that I could make the sauce now and freeze it?

I know you ladies are a lot more "able" around the kitchen than I am! Any suggestions appreciated.
I am going to take a pan full of whole ones to the Food Bank tomorrow.

avon I used 3 large cookie sheets, layed the washed and centre removed tomatoes on the pans whole, the remainder I tossed into a used ceral bag ( that tough plastic kind. ) Stuck everything into the freezer and they froze solid!
Then I used scalding hot tap water ( mine is that hot ) and poured it over them maybe 18 at a time in a large metal bowl. Let them sit for a few minutes and then the skins popped off!
Did you ever watch Mrs Volfie do it on her You Tube channel? I posted that link in my brag thread about the WM reduced produce. It is way easier and faster than the way you did it ( I used to remove the skins that way before too )

As far as freezing the actual " sauce" I don't know? I have frozen the " tomato meat mash " where it sort of resembles canned tomatoes and that worked out good to have on hand when making ANY dish.

    Morning everyone

Weird sunrise/rainy morning...sun's coming up, beautiful sunrise...but then the cloud/sky edge isn't distinguishable so it kind of fades into a greyish misty rainy sky, not dark grey and gloomy, just a light sky, but heavy down pour...

avon, I freeze tomatoes whole all the time. We like the skins, so I don't remove them.
Can't help you with the sauce - mine uses onions, garlic, and a bit of sugar.

Last day in the 30s today, thank goodness!

Enjoy whatever the day brings you!

good morning gang! Happy Friday!! The place smells like tomato sauce right now, my yield was 6 x 1 Litre jars. Sure can be time consuming to do this but when they are all resting on the towel, they look so cool! Hope you all have some exciting ways to enjoy the weekend!!

Today is National Creamsicle Day which explains my orange post,
I think it is only fitting that I should submit an official creamsicle roast!
They were larger when I was a kid, now have been downsized,
You know that I almost missed this day as it wasn’t advertised,
I have memories of kids enjoying them all sitting on the curb,
With very sticky hands & lips they were deliciously superb!
Now we have creamsicle cupcakes, creamsicle ice cream,
Creamsicle smoothies that taste like a dream!
Creamsicle clothes; like shirts skirts & shoes,
Some people even lament they have they have the creamsicle blues!
If you take 1 ounce each of the following, starting off with orange juice,
Use vodka, half & half cream & triple sec; oh the results you’ll produce!
I think there may be creamsicle beer or maybe creamsicle tea,
Please enjoy your creamsicle in your own style & please have one on me.

Dededi, I'm afraid I do, and hope I live long enough to see it again.

    Well, we're
home, @ least for a few hours, then off to the Jays game.
Have a wonderful w/end every1, in spite of all the rain.

At library before work and had a mango smoothie and falafel pita on my way at pita pit. Those mango smoothies are so good lol. Just started pouring like crazy outta nowhere. I feel bad for the people at the urban park(they close some roads downtown wed, thurs and fri) and have music, places to sit, food etc. Today kids were out selling stuff and I don't think they saw this down pour coming.

Had a great rehearsal for the wedding that I will do tomorrow. Almost everyone is from B C. They are "melting" in our Southwestern Ontario muggy heat. Just wait until they are all dressed up tomorrow and it's hotter and muggier! I will have to make it a fast ceremony so they can get back into the a/c..

There was a nice breeze today which made it bearable and it's under a pavilion - so shady.

We're having a Whale of a storm tonight and the temperature dropped WAY down for overnight. I may have to sleep in the basement again with our sucky dogs, if the storms come back.

Good news- NO WATER IN BASEMENT! Whew!

Walks,- 39 lb. Of tomatoes! I am not worthy! Good for you!

Hicks- hope you are enjoying this great game!
