Good morn - or, in my case, heading back to catch some sleep soon!
Got a bit of a thunderstorm overnight, nothing big, barely any rain.
At least it should be cooler today - I sure hope!
Enjoy whatever the day brings you!

Hello everyone!!!!
WHAT fabulous weather this weekend! Unlike most long weekends in May this was absolutely perfect, as was the time we spent with each other, our family, their friends....we couldn't have asked for more! It was busy the first few hours when we arrived, but thankfully, no mouse-poops, so everything got stored, put into the fridge, hung up and the bed was made, and we finally relaxed outside. For a while. Until DH had to try the pressure-washer on our deck which was a really slow process until he thought that a paint-stripper would help, so off to Rona we went, bought a small container, he spread it onto the deck and it completely stripped off all the stain!! So back to Rona he went for the larger container and finished the whole deck.
We thought it was paint, but our neighbours said it was a stain that the previous owner put on 2 years ago when he built the deck and it seems it's an every-second-year-job, to re-paint/stain the decks there!! So strange! Why wouldn't a stain penetrate the wood and just stick there? is it because the wood is treated?
We don't know what to do so Hubby will consult with HomeDepot, Lowes, to find out stuff...we might just leave it plain, but I don't much care for it, so we'll see what we can do. The kids will be painting this summer, using that dura-deck stuff....not sure that'll stick around for long, either....work, work, work, lol...but it's always more fun at camp. He also split up our hostas here at home, which were huge, and planted 10 of them along the front and first side piece of our deck; I love the look of hostas. I think we'll dig up some tall, yellow daisy-type flowers that we planted at our house when we first got it...plants we took from my parents' gardens...they grow like weeds and spread like them too, but they'll be perfect in the side edging. They grow up to about 4' tall and stay so upright...I wish I knew what they were called...
ANYWAY!! I guess everyone else's weekends are grinding to a halt too, but I hope you all had a wonderful long-weekend, that your weather cooperated, and you all came through it safely.
Sweet dreams, everyone!!

Good morning every1. Another beautiful day in the neighbourhood.
I hope you all enjoyed your w/end; sure sounds like @Lynn49 did.
Great the Raptors won, & tied the series. :clap2:
Lynn, our cedar deck @ our old home was cedar, and not treated, but it needed staining every 2nd year too. You need to pressure wash it, then stain.

Lynn - I had similar daisies from my mom's garden - they were Shasta daisies. I miss them, they were in our old place and we moved in winter so didn't take plants.

Morning gang!
Hope everyone had a restful and relaxing weekend.
Hi!
@22hicks , yep, DH put paint stripper on the planks, left them for at least 15minutes, then used the pressure washer to get it all off...the boards now look like they're fresh from the lumber yard! But omgosh, doing this every year or two?! It just doesn't seem worth it...what happened to stain that used to soak into the wood and just stay there? More research needs to be done....Thanks, Hon, yes, it was absolutely heavenly this weekend!!
@Natalka ...yes, love Shasta daisies, but that's not what these things are....they're very tall, about 4', one very strong stem, off which other little stems grow, each one with a big yellow daisy thingy. They spread like wildfire so they have to be kept contained...even so, some do creep into the lawn. In the spring, we used to burn the remaining stalks, still upright and strong (of course we'd bend them down)...sigh...more research is in order here....
YAY for the Raptors, too!!! WHY can't they play like that every game??!! Must the torture us?!
@Natalka ...I think this is it or VERY close...
C. Rudbeckia lacinata, the very tall parent of "Golden Glow"

It grows so tall in the wild (up to 9ft.) it's often assumed to be a sunflower, but it is not. The flowers are very large with drooping petals, colored a pale lemon yellow. The species can be quite impressive in a wildflower meadow, since the big flowers and petals often flutter' in the breeze, standing above other plants. But it's too big for most gardens.
This species is best known as the wild parent of one of your great-grandmother's favorite flowers, Golden Glow. It is a tall plant, up to 5 ft, which was introduced in 1894. The yellow blooms are fully double, and resemble a bright yellow chrysanthemum. Not very popular and not so well known today, they, like the parents, are often assumed to be short sunflowers or tall mums. Golden Glow forms clusters of flowers on the tall stems which are famous for "toppling over" as the flowers open. Millions of gardeners have rigged stakes to keep old Golden Glow plants standing tall with their beautiful blooms. They are some of the toughest, longest-lasting perennials in old gardens. A shorter version is called "Golden Drop," and grows to only 2-3 feet.
Wow, Lynn, those are very pretty!
