The US ambassador to Libya has died after an attack by militiamen on the US consulate in the eastern city of Benghazi, Libyan officials say.
Ambassador Christopher Stevens is said to be among four US officials killed in a protest over a US-produced film that is said to insult the Prophet Muhammad.
US media quote US officials confirming the ambassador's death. But there is no comment from the state department.
Protesters have also attacked the US embassy in Cairo over the film. This thread is currently associated with: N/A

I missed a lot of news yesterday, but what prompted this? I mean what particular incident? Was there another Koran burning or something?

From the article
Mrs Clinton said of Mr Stevens: "Chris was committed to advancing America's values and interests, even when that meant putting himself in danger."
Yeah nice statement but obviously they don't want you pushing your values there.

I'm not trying to start a debate or anything, but curiously the bible prophesied that religion will be completely anhialated in our time. We can't forget the millions that have died for Christendom over the centuries either. BUT there is a very large political "will" in the world right now pushing for the elimination of religion. Largely to do with violence, but I'm sure the unimaginably immense wealth of certain religions is quite the carrot too.
Although I'm fascinated as to how it will all come to be. . . most of the religious conflict is coming from the middle east, I agree. It's terrifying to see their bloodthirst for Western civilization. . . very sad how mankind has come to this state.
I saw the news of them attcking the embassy. It must have been so terrifying for those poor diplomats. I think the problem in these countries (as far as murders is concerned) they don't care what or who you are as a person. If your American or Western, you deserve to die. You're simply lumped in with whomever perpetrated the insult against them. . .

It appears that the movie may not be the reason forthe attacks and it may be the drone killing of a high Al Queda official or just the anniversary of 9/11.
