Rednecks, farmers and hillbillies invented recycling. I recycle a lot, we have no limit on bags, but I generally have only 1 anyway + used cat litter which no one has found an effective way to recycle yet.

The silly local govt has imposed so many rules on how we can recycle or compost, that it gets to the point of making one cry. & I have no doubt some overzealous green bin inspector would tell me that my kitty litter offerings wouldn't be accepted, because the hairball came out the wrong end.

Another goofy thing about Toronto - each neighbourhood has different rules on what can & cannot be recycled & how it is to be done. For example, I'm downtown & up until recently, I couldn't recycle styrofoam, but my folks in the suburbs could (I used to send my styrofoam home with them to recycle). Also, I have one large blue bin, while my folks would have to separate glass/cans/paper/plastics, which would then all be dumped into the same truck.

I recycle. DH does not. This means I am constantly picking through the garbage and pulling out bottles etc that should have gone in the blue box.

We have a compost pile in our yard so all non animal food scraps go there, I use my blue box to recycle whatever they will take, and I have a cardboard box where all paper and cardboard products go...unless they contain personally identifiable information, in which case I shred them first before recycling.

Our municipality has tight restrictions on what they will accept. For example, the nearby municipality will recycle Tim Horton's coffee cups. Our municipality won't. It 's stupid and I think the rules should be the same across the board.

And don't try to recycle something that isn't on "the list." Honestly, the garbage guy here picks through the blue box and if there's 1 thing in there that shouldn't be there, he picks it out and leaves it behind in your box. My neighbour got into a blue box war with him once over Tim Horton's coffee cups. It's fair to say the garbage guy won because he reached the point where he got tired of picking and he just tossed the ENTIRE box in the truck and drove away. (I actually watched him do it!) He did that 3 times more in the future until my neighbor finally got the hint. LOL. Funny but bizarre. hehe. Our garbage guy is a recycle nazi.

We don't have a bag limit; however, we DO have to pay for all garbage disposal- $1.75 per bag of garbage.

And we can't dispose of big stuff at the curb either. It has to be trucked down to the dump where you also pay a fee to dispose of it.

I recycle everything and compost as well. I save all out bottles and we take them in every couple of years. Since we started this, we have had our large dumpster emptied only 2 times a year. So we save $20.00 a month on empting fees that way as well. Plus we try to come up with ways to reuse items that would just get throw away. Creativity is a wonderful thing!!

We have a 1 bag per week limit, which which cat litter can be a pain.
We have curbside pickup of recycling and garbage once a week, so we recycle as much as possible to use the garbage space for cat litter and because we always recycled anyway

No bag limit here where I live. We recycle our bottles, cans, etc. We don't have curbside recycling here.

Recycle everything, thursday pick up for the ginormous green bin suppied by the city.

garbage no limits tuesdays and fridays

recycling compostable stuff every 2 weeks pick up in summer once a week now until mid- november

Municipal dump where we can take things like batteries, paint, dirt from the garden, big stuff etc. although garbage will take big stuff too, we are allowed 12 trips per year

next summer I am going back to cpmposting in my garden, since we became veggies I have so much stuff to compost it's unbelievable

Our city recently moved to biweekly pick-ups, and since we live in a condo we don't really have a garbage limit. We do recycle (just recently started TBH) but it's only because of the new bi-weekly pickup.

0ur gargage/recyclers are on a weekly rotating basis. which occasionally bump from holidays. so were careful about what we do
All cans /plastic are recycled.
glass jars are washed out and reused for remnants from pans/crockpots then tossed out
paper ie envelopes, flyers are all thrown out. important papers are shredded.
everything else is garbage. we did have a composter but the owner left it 'to go' and then moved no one knows how to take care of it and its stuffed.

We have a one bag limit here and bi-weekly recycling. We try to recyle almost everything, crush our cans down flat so they don't take up as much room. Glass can be taken to a drop-off bin that the town supplies. Our recycling is taken to Wpg. by truckloads when the warehouse our town built is full. There is a lot of plastics that can't be put in the recycling. Only certain numbers, something like a number 6 plastic can't be recycled. We usually never go over the one bag limit and if we do there are bag tags for $2.00 a bag.
