this one is for all the baby mommas out there

PUL is the laminated fabric that is used to make the outer liners of cloth diapers, and you can now buy it at both JoAnn AND Hobby Lobby! Woot!
I started by making my pattern;I used wax paper, pinned it around the trainer, and traced the seams of the reinforced section.
I ended up with this:
If you look closely, the bottom section is about half an inch longer than the top section. That part ends up on the back of your training pants.
I labelled my pattern, just to be safe.
Then I used my rotary cutters to cut out 4 layers of flannel, and one layer of PUL, leaving me with this:
Quick note: PUL can be a little pricey, about $15 a yard, but you use so little for this project, that it's not a budget buster. I purchased 1/4 yard, and it was MORE than enough. I could easily get 15 of these pieces out of my little bit of PUL.
I started by pinning and sewing the flannel into the inside of the training pants. Why flannel? It's soft, absorbent, and not too bulky.I pinned and then did a zig-zag stitch all the way around. One trip around is fine, since you'll do another trip around when you sew the PUL to the outside.
Flip the training pants to the right side, and repeat this process with the PUL.(no, you're not crazy, I switched training pants on you! White on white doesn't photo well!)These two steps could probably be combined into one if you really want. I don't like sewing blind, so I did each side in it's own.
There you have it! Your own (roughly) waterproof cloth training pants for...maybe $3.50 a pair? I will take that discount, thank you very much!I love these training pants! They are perfect for outings, long naps, and now over night. They catch any "oops" without requiring a change of clothes, which is just what I was looking for. Abbey has had one full accident in these. 4 hour naps will do that. These didn't keep her pants dry in that case, but they did keep her sheets dry, which in my book is a win!I hope these help all those cloth diapering Mama's out there!
side note: I didn't plan on matching the PUL to the training pants, there just happens to be a pattern in the line that matched perfectly. It makes the OCD "things have to match!" side of my very happy!JOIN NOW WIN BIG in the Survivor Pool starting in the Spring

5 things to do with milk other than drink it
1. Make Frozen Fish Taste Fresh
If you want fish from your freezer to taste like it was freshly caught, try this trick. Place the frozen fish in a bath of milk until it thaws. The milk will make it taste fresher.
2. Repair Cracked China
Before you throw out that cracked plate from your grandmother’s old china set, try mending it with milk. Place the plate in a pan, cover it with milk (fresh or reconstituted powdered milk), and bring to the boil. As soon as it starts to boil, lower the heat and simmer for about 45 minutes. The protein in the milk will miraculously meld most fine cracks.
3. Clean and Soften Dirty Hands
Yard work or cleaning up the garage usually results in stained and gritty hands, and regular soap just won’t get it off, but this will. Make a paste of rolled oats and milk and rub it vigorously on your hands. The stains will be gone and the oats-and-milk mixture will soften and soothe your skin.
4. Remove Ink Stains From Clothes
To remove ink stains from coloured clothes, an overnight milk bath will often do the trick. Just soak the affected garment in milk overnight and launder in the washing machine as usual the next day.
5. Give Yourself a Facial
Here’s another way to give yourself a fancy spa facial at home. Make a mask by mixing ¼ cup of powdered milk with enough water to form a thick paste. Thoroughly coat your face with the mixture, let it dry completely, then rinse with warm water. Your face will feel fresh and rejuvenated.JOIN NOW WIN BIG in the Survivor Pool starting in the Spring

http://www.readersdigest.ca/health/b...-ingrown-hairs
Get rid of ingrown hairs
1. Use Tweezers
If a hair has curled back and grown into your skin, you’ll probably want to remove it. First, place a washcloth soaked with hot water over the area. Leave it on for about five minutes to soften the hair. Using tweezers, gently pull the tip of the hair away from the skin. Then use nail scissors to trim off the curl.
2. Get a New Razor
If ingrown hairs keep recurring, a simple shaver-swap might do the trick. If you normally shave with a blade, switch to an electric shaver. If you already use an electric shaver, switch to a blade.
3. Opt for a Single Blade
Many razors now feature double or even triple blades for an ultra-close shave. But when it comes to preventing ingrown hairs, an old-fashioned single-bladed razor is often better. Two-bladed razors tend to tug the stubble away from the skin before cutting it. Hairs "snap back" a bit, and can wind up jammed below the surface.
4. Disinfect
If an ingrown hair becomes infected and you shave with a razor, changing blades should speed the healing process by helping you avoid re-exposing your skin to the germs that caused the infection in the first place. If you don’t want to spring for a new blade each day, sterilize the blade by dipping it in rubbing alcohol. Be sure to rinse off the alcohol or you might burn your skin.
5. Prevent Ingrowns
Before your next shave, briskly rub the area with a dry loofah or washcloth. You’ll brush away dead skin cells that might block hair follicles, a process called exfoliation, and lift hairs away from their follicles.JOIN NOW WIN BIG in the Survivor Pool starting in the Spring

DIY Kool-Aid Lip Gloss
Materials Needed:
Kool-Aid packets – $0.17 a packet at Wal-Mart
Vaseline
Container for lip gloss storage – use a small empty spice container, or any small jar will work.
Craft supplies – optional
Directions:
Put a cup of Vaseline into a small microwavable bowl.
Heat until it is easy to stir, about 30 seconds. Be careful not to let it turn into liquid. (The Vaseline in the very bottom may liquefy, but the key is to just get it warm enough to stir.)
Sprinkle Kool-Aid into Vaseline and stir.
Transfer to container and enjoy!

Easy, Non-Toxic Way To Rid Your Yard of Fire Ants
Pesky fire ants making mounds in your lovely yard? Try this non-toxic way to get rid of them.
Simply pour 2 cups of CLUB SODA directly in the center of afire ant mound.
The carbon dioxide in the water is heavier than air and displaces oxygen which suffocates the queen and the other ants. The whole colony will be dead within about two days.
Each mound must be treated individually and a one liter bottle of club soda will kill 2 to 3 mounds.JOIN NOW WIN BIG in the Survivor Pool starting in the Spring
