I just started I'll be gone in the dark today, I may not sleep tonight because I don't want to put it down.

One Perfect Lie - Lisa Scottoline
It starts out making you think one thing but she reveals the secret about halfway through (too early, imo - she should have kept us guessing longer)... still good though. Two thirds of the way through only so it could still change.

I ended up putting down The Outsider when I was able to get I'll Be Gone In The Dark.
I liked it. I have read some true crime and this one was decent considering she didnt really finish writing it but there was a couple of things I felt were off. I dont want to spoil it for anyone but I felt she projected a strained relationship with a person in her life onto one of the actual murders and gave that case way too much focus when it wasnt needed. It would be different if it was a pivotal point but it was simply another of many crimes.
It didnt help that I read it late at night with my book light as my hubby lay sleeping and my daughter who is home for the summer came in. I was so absorbed in the book I didnt hear her come in so when she whispered "mom" I screamed so loud and jumped up ready to punch. My poor kid, my poor hubby! LOL, stupid me...

Uncle Vanya
Chekhov
Chekhov's gun is a dramatic principle that states that every element in a story must be necessary,
and irrelevant elements should be removed; elements should not appear to make "false promises" by never coming into play.
"If in the first act you have hung a pistol on the wall, then in the following one it should be fired. Otherwise don't put it there."@
