Sooo, exactly what is good about getting old???

WOW !! What great thread lol ... Mmmm ... there's nothing exciting about getting old .. there's nothing to look forward to.. getting old and getting all kinds of pains .. all over your body .. hair turning grey and face wrinkle up .. can't remember things anymore .. please someone clone me now before I get too old .. depressed just thinking about aging .. I know we're all going get there sooner or later but it sucks just thinking about it

Your last post is reminding me of the senior Italian couple that was so lonely they argued and the police cooked them supper. I hope they have a couple of new friends now.

I have had at least two Rexall receipts that mention Senior on them because I bought AM special pop on a Tuesday. But I'm not a senior so---bit unnerving.

I'd appreciate having a salt cave room to use every three days. No need for tanning booth or spray tan station-my sinuses want to feel free!

What's Good About getting Old?
Those of us already well into the stages where the falling apart is happening can sit back and chuckle at those who are dreading entering it....ha ha @Newfiescreech !! Just sit back and let it happen, not like there is a choice.

You get excited seeing older clothing (from decades when you were not feeling old) at secondhand stores or community sales!
You look forward to clearance shoe sales at specialty stores that do carry your size!
There's a reason to get interested in finding vitamins, supplements or food that may take the edge off of joint pain, random twinges of whatever and hormonal drops because the prospect of making a doctor's appt. and then visiting a pharmacy with a prescription is too much of a financial and time shock.
You totally understand Goldilocks as you seek the just right chair that is comfortable and does not make a pain worse. Comfort matters.
You get stopping and smelling the roses if you have to stop for minutes to get your breath back and a bench beckons!

Finding the graphic novel Adulthood is a Myth and recognizing some introverted person's scenarios as similar to some of my own lived experiences.

Seeing on Yahoo today that someone wrote books entitled, Choose Your Own Adulthood, Scream-Free Marriage and Scream-Free Parenting-revelation city moment! My library has two titles in different formats and I've reserved the marriage book. Insight today-had these books been available three generations ago, I believe there'd be a whole lot less yelling and arguing on both sides of the family tree. The damage from those encounters goes from one generation to the following one. Decided I needed to see how to shift my own volcanic responses to certain people in my life before I turn 50.

There are some aspects of being older that I really like..

my relationship with my husband is 43 yrs old... I love that we see the "good and bad ' in each other and laugh a lot.
I really like that I was able to laugh when I found out I had stage 4 cancer..
I like that i had the insight and courage to stop treatment & tests once I had done the route once.. quality over quanitity
I like knowing that we don't keep people in our life just because we are related.. (new to me this week)

Lots of stores give you a senior discount..
People who don't want to listen to the things you learned making the same mistakes.. Ie if you toss your ball that way it can hit your car .. ball soaring through air.. lands on car.. instant proof
My favourite of late is just being quiet and letting people figure out a solution.. it may take a bit longer but they get a solution
We don't have to set examples any more....
Its ok to refuse birthday cakes.. it stops being fun when you see someone trip and run at you with a wall of fire ..
