Congratulations!!! Welcome to the mortgage free/debt free club
I still remember the day (now 11 years ago that we were totally debt free - quite the fantastic feeling). Since then, we have continued to live a very frugal lifestyle and are at the point now that, if my hubby should lose his job, we wouldn't have to stress.
If any here are just starting out on their own, let me advise you that living frugally pays hugely in the long run and contributes to much more of a stress free life!

I can't agree more. At first I thought Christmas would be brutal, but once we embraced the idea it was so much more relaxed. My daughter who is 17 and should be at the height of wanting materialistic things "made" Christmas presents for everyone, even her boyfriend joined in on the non-materialistic Christmas. It was great.
And thank you everyone for the advise and support received here. I have been walking around with a huge smile on my face all day!!

Has anyone successfully got 3 sbs from watching the movie clip Taken 2 Extended Clip under Peanut Labs? I have tried this for a few days now and nothing!

I am very jealous! Great job! I am also counting the days until we are completely debt free - 1800 days
Just joined Kiva.org, an organization that funds micro-loans to people in developing countries. I love the idea that the $25 I saved in groceries can be given to a fish woman with 5 children in the Philippines to help grow her business.

Congrats. I just bought my house 1.5 years ago, so I have quite a ways to go. I don't have any credit card debt though, which is nice, as when I was younger I was in over my head with CC debt. I'm hoping to have my house paid off in 15-20 years rather than 25 years.

Congrats! It must be such a great feeling. I`m working at paying off a CC and it feels good to get that balance down.

Congratulations! What a wonderful feeling that must be, and as others have said, kudos on setting a fantastic example for your kids!!! I can't wait to be in the same boat one day soon.

Surely you deserve a *little* reward for such a huge accomplishment!

Well we were going to take the kids to Collingwood for a ski weekend after exams were done this week but the weather is being totally uncooperative. They have had school cancelled twice this week we are expecting another storm tonight into the morning. So between waiting to finish off their exams and the bad road conditions the celebration might have to be postponed!
